Hi can you upload some pictures?
Hi all.
I have been restoring my 08 Polo GTis paintwork recently. For the most part all it had were a few stone chips on the front end and some swirl marks and spiderwebs.
for the chips I used a Holts chip stick in pearl black (its a BMP). However, I am having trouble getting that glassy look to the paintwork generally. I have so far tried a kitten cut and polish (which has carnauba wax) by hand but realised it would take too long and ao bought a rotary pilisher from supercheap- I know it isn't the best but atleast thought it would cut down manual labour. I realised it was extremely difficult to remove the wax once it had dried and so switched to maguires medium cut (which was way too course and marred the surface) and so tried maguires swirl removed 2.0. I have been using the rotary with the swirl 2.0 but it doesn't seem to do much-fine scratches are still present. I then have to resort to the kitten again by hand, with much force and then the 2.0 by rotary with force to achieve anything close to a scratch-free surface, however although its glossy, the scratches still remain. The roof does have a glassy almost ripple-free look. However, I discovered the rear quarters clearcoat has ripples throughout. No matter how hard I use kitten or 2.0 the fluoro light reflection in it still has ripples, unlike the roof. what else can I try? Or is there a technique for this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
