I got a mk1 and a vr6 so i have alot of black plastics to cover ive tried a variety of products ranging in price but what works for me is plain old export tyre shine from supercheap i spray it on and wipe down with my hand (don't use a rag cause it soaks it up) ive seen so many bumper painted most don't stand up to the test of time but by painting them you loose the original look if you going to paint them look at colour coating.
Ive been using autoglym bumper care from autobarn. Goes on real well and has lasted over 3 washes and alot of showers. Its pretty expensive at around 28 bucks for a small bottle

i just did the shoe polish on my mk 3 spoiler
i used kiwi parade gloss come up realy good.
just smeared it on then buffed it off, like you would for a shoe then sprayed a nice layer or armour all on it. it has only been a few days but will see how it goes.
anyone have any pics of a before and after of the forever black or the heatgun trick have to say im a bit nervous about using the heat gun but would like to see the results
might take some before and after pic when i do the trim
I am using Mothers Back to Black. It's Ok, but needs redoing every few weeks (4-6 weeks). Black WOW is supposed the sh1z for black bumpers, especially restoring faded ones. I am yet to try it.
I used kiwi shoe polish on mine, and I've only done it twice in about a 10 month, and my bumpers are still black!
Ive said it before and ill say it again lol BLACK WOW!!
Here is a before and after. The before is after an intensive scrub. The marks are from a caustic cleaner that the car wash cafe used which dripped onto the bumper.
The black wow managed to hide/remove all the marks. It got 2 coats of the stuff on all exterior plastics.
Before
After
Here is another 50/50 shot of it
Durability is around 3 months for 2 coats in my experience
I might try some Black Wow (that correct?) on mum's Forester, because the Forever Black leaves streaks on the new type of plastic used on the bumpers and side mirrors.
where can you get black wow from it look good
