Best way(s) to clean cloth seats?

Hey guys. I need an edumacated opinion...

I've just put some GTI seats in the Caddy. Pics here.. http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/f135...-16507-34.html
Now, when i got them, they were quite dirty. General grime and reddish brown dirt. I used warm water and mild detergent with a soft cloth to get most of it off, and they have come up quite well. However, there are still a few small dirty marks and a couple of what look to be grease stains in them.

What are your suggestions for removal? I've heard steam cleaning is the go, but it's a bit hard to find someone to do it out here without having to hire a machine myself (seems like a lot of jerking around for 2 seats). Simplest to most complicated would be great.

Obviously, steam cleaning works best. The other marks and the greese stains should come out. Greese is hard no matter what. Steam cleaners don't do miracles, they just work a little better.

The best way other than that would be the method you already used. Try hitting it again, then make sure you wet vacuum as much out of the seats as you can.

I like the fact that you used Preen. LOL

I reckon if you hire a steam cleaner, at least you'll give it a go and know that you gave it the best shot...?

I'm going to try some Preen, let it soak for a bit. Then warm water/detergent and cloth, followed by vacuum. If that fails, it's stream clean time!

Hey Preeny,

You could also try one of the stain removing sticks for oil and grease, you'll find them in the supermarket cleaning isle. They should be around the same section as the other stain removers. I would suggest that whatever you use on your seats (even Preen) should be tested on an inconspicuous spot first, just in case it removes colour. Don't forget a lot of these products contain bleaching agents
