Can nobody assist with this ???? i thought this was a big forum..
Hello All,
I have noticed that our new beetle didn't come with any factory holes in the bumper to mount the number plate which is surprising to find on a new car.
our dealer fitted our personalized plates with two self tapping screws which at first i didn't have a problem with until i took the plates off the have the paint protection done and we found the front number plate had been rattling around and scratched off the paint from the bumper, Even that it couldn't be seen we were most unimpressed.
Our dealer was great and touched up the paint so the paintwork is all sealed again but i need to come up with a better solution.
For the time being we are sticking some adhesive foam tape between the car and number plate to stop it scratching again.
But i would like to find a better way to mount the plate if possible.
I thought of installing nutserts into the bumpers but if that doesn't work then i left with even bigger holes in the bumper.
so what has everybody else done to their car ?
Can nobody assist with this ???? i thought this was a big forum..
Have a look at Lakin plates: http://lakinplates.com.au/index.php?...55_108_571_880
Lakin make excellent products and customer service is spot on. Alot of GTI and R guys have the Lakin front plate brackets to replace the horrible piece of plastic VW gave us.
You might need to email them and ask for pics of a bracket fitted to your model Beetle.
Another (cheaper but effective) option some people use is double sided tape.
