Hello all,

I'm only imagining that professional/proud car detailers cringe at the idea of a Supercheap brand (Armour All), but I want to clarify now as i'm going to be spending a considerable amount of money on cleaning products and thought that while i'm at it I might upgrade my leather/interior cleaner. Can someone give me the low down?

I use 303 for interior and exterior plastic/rubber etc. I find 303 less shiney and greasy than armourall.
I use Zaino leather cleaner and conditioner for the leather. I hope that helps.

I've used Autoglym for a while now and am pretty happy with it.

Armour all is good for shining the tyres. No overspray or anything like that. I wouldn't use it on the dash, it just goes all greasy and dust sticks to it and if you touch it, you leave fingerprints and generally it's not that great.

Surprising to hear it doesn't 'overspray' man, do you mean no slinging onto the car at all?

Armourall is a very unsafe product - especially for dashboards - as the silicone in armourall that gives it the shine dries the dash out making it very prone to cracking, very early in its life.

Anything with silicone in it is usually not a good idea to use on a car - and usually anything that leaves plastic or rubber shiny has silicone in it unfortunately. 303 is a good product as it's basically armourall without the silicone and extra crap. It doesn't gloss much, but it leaves a black sheen to things you apply it to - I personally prefer the result.


In answer to your question about leather and interior cleaner, I just use a multi-cleaner all day long on interiors - it's like magic spray!! Autoglym Powermax 3 is what it's called. Diluted 1:6 with water, it's safe to use on just about everything in the interior of your car, provided you don't let it dry on there. Spray onto a cloth or directly onto the surface, buff it with the cloth and repeat if necessary.

+1 for 303 Aerospace Protectant. Non greasy and matte finish.

I'm using 303 Aerospace Protectant and think it is great, very happy with the finish. For the leather I am using Bowden's Own Leather Love and Leather Guard and it seems to be preforming well on the seats.

Nope no slinging at all. I use the wipes. Because they're not drenched in the stuff you can get a nice even spread without being too thick and as it's not a spray you don't have to worry about cleaning up the wheels afterwards. Another car detailer gave me a tip for it after I'd tried so many different types of tyre shiners with average at best results.
But yeah won't use it anywhere else.

Ahh so you wipe it on, yeah that's the main difference how long does it usually last you? I've found nothing that lasts more than a week except this no-name stuff from an auto detailer wholesale supplier that's meant to be used on bumpers!

I also use Zaino cleaner/conditioner for the leather. Cockpit premium for the dash/plastics works very well too. Does not leave the dash glossy or greasy.
