Description: Stainless mandrel hand bent hard line allows for the conversion of a power steering rack to manual operation. Lines for both TRW and ZF steering racks are available (most MKII cars have TRW rack, which has a smooth black finish to it).
Benefits:
- Performance: horsepower is freed up by eliminating the parasitic drag the power steering pump has on the engine.
- Transitioning: the TRW and ZF power steering rack and pinion has a “longer” gear set, compared to the VW manual rack. This means there are less turns of the steering wheel required to move the wheels lock-to-lock. This is great for any type of racing where quick transitioning is required, such as autocross.
- Fuel Economy: by eliminating the power steering pump you will increase highway fuel economy. The pump wastes energy during highway driving, continually circulating fluid when the rack doesn’t even require it to assist the driver.
- Simplify: reduce the number of components in your engine bay. It will have a simpler and cleaner look
- Save money: if there is a problem with the power steering system, repairs are often extremely costly, especially for the rack and pinion. For $49 and ½ hour, you can be on the road again.
- How to order: We primarily use Paypal. Send funds to: payments@eaaengineering.com with an accompanying description (ie. "MK2 steering de-power line for TRW rack")
- Note: European ABF serpentine belt conversion kits are also available for MKII 8v and 16v engines, and are a great addition to the steering de-power kits. The ABF kit can be seen here (contact us for details!): Serpentine Belt Conversion Kits & Pulleys Additional info: VWVortex.com - FS: Serpentine Belt Conversion for MKII 8V & 16V
Instructions and full support are included with every purchase. These kits have been sold in the USA for over 2 years now, with a great deal of success.
