The Volkswagen Club of SA Inc. (VWCSA) was established in 1955 to cater for Volkswagen owners and enthusiasts alike.
The clubs activities include:
· Observation runs
· Economy runs
· Bowling nights
· Social nights
· Annual Dinner and Presentation night
· Day of the Volkswagen annual show and swap
· Competitive events such as Motorkhana and Khanacross
General meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month at the Adelaide German Club at 7.30 pm.
The club is a member of the ‘Historical Vehicles Club of SA’ enabling members to obtain historic registration (log book entry system) for their vehicles which are over 30 years of age. Conditions such as originality etc may apply. Left hand drive vehicles built prior to 1st January 1974 can also be conditionally registered.
The club magazine, Wagen News, is published monthly and distributed to members of the club. It details upcoming club events, Volkswagen news and stories, and runs classified ads for cars and spare parts.
The club has a strong competition history and is affiliated with the Confederation of Australian Motorsport (CAMS Ltd).
Club members strongly support interstate events such as Bug Ins. Half a dozen members toured Tasmania in their Volkswagens as part of the 50th Anniversary celebrations of Volkswagen in Australia, in vehicles including 2 oval window beetles, 1970’s kombi and beetles, and, of course a Transporter called Dietrich.
