ROAD TRIP DIARY:
Started out with Boydy rocking up a classic 45 late. Hit the road in the vr, double demerits in the back of our minds.
Didn't get far before we stopped in at the only real reason to go to the cenny coast GABS takeaway, then we hit the road.
Made it to Albury at 8 and straight to the (apparently) one and only Paddy's, few expensive beers later we hit the accom.
Bed by 2am ready for a new day.
Hit the driving range, it was clear that none of us were the new tiger woods and much better and drinking beer.
Standard afternoon of more alcohol, paddy's once again and being a general nuisance to the albury locals. Had a bit of a HWP scare at one of the numerous Albury car washes that seem to be on every corner, similar to a scene from fast and furious as the car wash cleared out with in seconds.

Too many coronas to remember later and the triple bunk was found. Woke up at 8 hung over and wanting to die but managed to get to VITS. Great day at the show with a huge turnout and so many quality cars. Managed to get back to the accom and all pass out by 9:30.
Next day had a great bbq with all the vw crew and pirate pete, then on to the long drive home from albs. Managed to make it all the way back even with a scary moment of having a hwp flick his lights on while next to me and then proceed to box me in while pulling another person off the road, his wave to let me passed was a relieving moment.
Can't wait for the next show!
Cheers lanky for all the photos, happened to have one on my phone from the whole weekend.
Awesome show as usual. Thanks to Reece and the rest of the team once again.
Friday
Jarred and I headed up early Friday afternoon after I got lost on the way to his house.

Weather looked hopeful for the most part, and I was glad that we didn't see any rain from the sometimes grey clouds on the way up.

This was also Jarred's final trip with the Mk2 VR6. It behaved flawlessly on the way up there, and even achieved better fuel economy than my 2.0 Mk4.

Albury looks great in Autumn. Even this pile of rubbish next to our cabin was almost picturesque at sunset. Almost.
We arrived at around 5:30pm and met the manager of the caravan park, collected keys, setup our beds, and awaited Volkswagenist backup. Foff and Sasha were next to arrive, followed closely by Simon and Jess.
After heading into town we met with Anth, Ryan, Cliffo, H-bomb, George, Thao, and several more associates. Beers were consumed, **** was talked, and plans were hatched for the rest of the weekend. The remaining Canberra crew met us as we left the pub, and we returned to the park to wait for the rest of the Friday arrivals and consume more beverages.
Saturday
Brekky at The Proprietor in Albury was amazing, coffee was good, conversation was better. While others hit golf balls on the range, I mostly missed the mark and hit the ground immediately next to the tee and yelled out frustrations related to my shortcomings in life. I think my best of the day was around the 100m distance. During golf Woody, Dyl and Lanky arrived.
That afternoon we relaxed back at the caravan park, some washed cars for the show the next day, and at night we returned to the pub for a big family dinner and further refreshments. RayRay arrived late that evening with 14 wheels and numerous other parts in his Mk3 hauler (which was looking great).
Sunday - show day
We all awoke feeling sorer than expected from golf the day before, and some felt dustier than others from activities the night prior.
The show was excellent as usual, cars were interesting and not the usual fare we see at the Melbourne gatherings. I didn't really take too many shots as I was busy mingling and avoiding the sun.

I did see this MK4 and was really impressed by how simple and effective it was. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that it belongs to a 'Simon H'. Nice work mate.
Congrats to Zale for getting his Vento VR6 done for the show, it looked amazing and won an award too! Also congrats to Cliffo, Brooke + Brit, and Jon for picking up awards too. Also Peter(sp) with his amazingly clean MK1 with 20vt conversion.
Verdict
If you've never attended this show, you should try to make it next time.
Albury is a nice place during Autumn, the weather was beautiful, and the company is always great. Reece and his team put in lots of effort to create a great show which attracts great cars and a good crowd.
It's awesome to see lots of representation from Melbourne, let's see more faces from Sydney next time.

Mk3.Mk4.Mk1
My Mk1 Project
Didn't really go as planned for me.
As usual. Still had heaps of fun.
Really good to see everyone again.
The show had some great cars.
On par with some of the bigger shows.
Ready for Nationals next month!
Jess did well to put up with me.
D*ck pics were plentiful.
Congrats to Reece and the team for putting on another awesome show. It seemed to run as smooth as ever. Always a good excuse to make a weekend out of it. Sucks my car wasn't there..again. Glad we got Zale's car ready in time for its debut though.
Photo thanks to Lanky:
