This is the final third, down beside the "loop" you look at from the lookout. You can see the road in the photo of the ariel picture. Don't get caught looking at the rail bridges, there's usually a unsigned 90 degree bend right after it!
Like this bastard.....90 degree bend to the right coming up!!! Love the signage!!!
Batteries went flat about this point, and it does get worse in the final third, the last couple of wood bridges are rather dodgey, and I'd suggest a lot of caution. Be oh so easy to overcook it, the road isn't smooth in it's contours. Definately a slow down and see place for you low low types. The worst one is the last one just after the school, about 2km from the end. You're missing nothing if you turn around at this point. Edit: I have since realised I turned off down "risk road" for the last few kms, there is an alternate "Grady's crossing Rd" which may be better for the low boyz. Avoids these nasty bridges, but not sure how flooded grady's crossing is, it is the turnoff in the picture above from what I can understand off google earth. It definately drops down to creek level!
Here's a video around the middle part. Gives you an idea of what you're up for.
I drove cautiously down, took the shots, then had a bit more of a drive on the way back now that I knew what I was in for, Still nothing like you do over Nebo Glorious for a bit of a fang, this is a road to cruise on, admire the scenery and sheer breadth of conditions you encounter, and to respect. Too many potential hazzards, dumb cows, cow poop, poor roads, oncoming locals, and blind corners to make this a good spot to fang. We will need several regroup points, and the lookout park is OK, but the best picnic spot is just about 5kms in from Rathdowny where there's a great park, tables, plenty of space and an awesome creek crossing to check out. I'd suggest it's the place to have lunch.
Long day out, suggest a V or coffee about hour 4, I was getting over it about Calamvale on the way home...
Definately a road you have to drive, but respect it, and if you have coilovers and bring the girlie, get her to sling em up in a sportsbra.
