    Great. Done deal.

What do you all think of this route? Its more or less what you see on the OP but shorter (does the Healsville-Toolangi-Healsville route before heading home, rather than going through Kinglake). If its too long for some people we can always see how tired we are on the day and give either of the Lake Mountain, or Healsville-Toolangi loops a miss. Although they are both spectacular.

I did that exact route last saturday (but didn't start in Gembrook, drove out through lilydale from middle-eastern suburbs). I do it pretty regularly but rarely have anyone who will drive with me. I just got my R so keen to join if I can make it. When do you guys want to meet at Knox?

Forecast suggest a clear sunny day of 30deg for tomorrow great for cruising.

Ill head to Knox mtg point as per tradition.

Given its kind of a long weekend are many people attending this one?

I've messaged the above few to remind!

Okay so meeting at that carpark at 7.30 for a leave time of roughly 7.45! If the weather is any where near as good as today it will be a ripper!

mmm... I've teed up the boys for a session tonight...

I might take it easy and make an appearance at Ringwood - for the Gembrook - Warby - Reefton - Heals run...

Glad there's gonna be more than two cars this month too!

We're going straight through anti-clockwise, the twisty route that ends up being about the same time as the more direct route... A lot less traffic! But it doesn't go through Ringwood mate!

cruise starts early in the morning (get up at work times - 6:20 or so), and you should be back home for a lovely cold one at the pub by 2-3pm - you'll be pretty exhausted if it is your first "cruise" (read: boys will be boys).

oh, drive hard, but don't exceed the limits of your getting to know a new car.

and when you see a metallic blue polo (not mine, anymore, sadly) or any polo for that matter, don't presume, and don't take the bait by thinking about the numbers on paper - they will know their cars, and have set them up VERY well (as well as the other men who have sorted their cars out for the pleasure that is driving over VIC twisties).

just push it until you feel you're done, enjoy, and soak up what is usually (well, every time that i've been) a great bunch of people who just like to drive

my first (ehem) "cruise" was an eye opener, and it set me up for a long relationship with enjoying/ being reasonably aware of how to drive my car on the limit, as well as just simply hanging out with some fgckin cool people.

    hit it!

You're not going to drive like a tool are you? Last time I cruised with a bunch of randoms from a forum we had people cutting corners on the wrong side of the road and other examples of really irresponsible driving. You don't want to drive "on the limit" as you put it a) in a group or b) on a public road. Not sure what the warning about not "taking the bait" trying to race/overtake a polo has to do with anything. Surely we'd just drive like a responsible group of adults right? Reefton is 80 and past that and up lake mountain then most of the way to marysville is 100, this is plenty to have fun.

Just let us know if anyone's planning to drive irresponsibly because personally I don't want to participate if that's going to be the case.

If it puts you at ease I brought a mate on his moto our first time that way and I bloody shot the mouth off him when he did exactly that- wrong side of the road around blind outside corners. My few cruises with VWW everyone has been very in control and quite calm, giving enough space behind the next car, being patient when over-taking, cyclists, motos, and Sunday drivers.

I think what Scott is trying to say about 'taking the bait', is that many of us are naturally competitive, but the idea is to go at your own pace, stick to the road rules, and don't try and match someones speed (Just because they can do it so can I). Even if its the same car you drive, experience and set up vary. Competitiveness just generally leads to mus-judgement anyway.....

We'll all have a great time, there doesnt have to be any goals and theres certainly no clear winners, besides everyone who shows up
