less than 3 weeks to go!

here is a clip of my best lap from the last timeattack.

people may want to follow the lines i did to make use of the track full width on each corner, but they are still far from perfection

    Thanks Nat,
Can't wait to give it a crack on the 7th.Any advise and tips are great.Looks like you have done, more than a few laps around Lakeside,I have watched all your clips.
I don't think I'll be recording any of my laps for a while, they will all be pretty average compared to some of you guys, but you have to start somewhere.Any chance of you sitting in with me I'm interested in set up etc, as well as drive lines,it all adds up
    Cheers

It's all learning, you wouldn't need to drive as fast as Nat or follow the same lines as in that video Happy laps is about choosing your own pace and to drive within your ability. Don't feel like you have to keep up with the faster guys, just keep left on the straight and drive to your own pace, you will be fine.

Its easy to get caught up trying to keep up with people faster than you, but its not worth you taking a risk to keep up and having a crash

    absolutely correct.

bear in mind my clip was during a timed session at TimeAttack where protection gears (helmet and stuffs) are required and there are only 10 cars at a time.

the happy laps pace is much more relaxed and it is not meant to be driven 9/10 and speed is restricted and they put cones at 2 sections (highest risk areas) of the track to ensure people stay safe.

BUT it is a great event to have fun in a closed and legal environment and to learn and improve driving at your own pace

Some of us have stepped up and focus more on timed sessions and i know 3 VW drivers who graduated from Happy Laps and have done very well and i am just trying my best to chase their lap times

Never ever take risk at lakeside (or overdoing it), they say it is the most dangerous track in Australia.

There are only 3 bolts securing that bracket and one (or 2 or all 3) must not have been torqued correctly. Hopefully no damage has been done to the engine block....
That's tragic Nat. No chance of getting it done before? I'll take you off for now.

I've had similar problems with things not being put back together properly by them.

That is the last time I use them ever again.

Gavin, i have bought new bolts and booked to have a timing belt and water pump replaced (which includes removing and refitting the crooked bracket) this Saturday at VW Springwood (yes they are open Saturdays, the only VW service that does this in QLD).

Will let you know by Sunday if all goes well.

Will let you know by Sunday if all goes well (no other damages done due to P&P negligence) and ready for Happy Laps in time

VW services quoted me $1030-$1100 to have timing belt and water pump job done, which is in fact cheaper than P&P original quote of $1000 just to have water pump replaced (timing belt was extra).
That's good news then Nat. Look forward to hearing from you over this weekend.

Ok people, I jut sent the PM for payment. Please get on that early for me.

There's still room for a few extras, so anyone undecided about attending because they are new or whatever. Don't be.

It's not a drift fest and is very civilised.

    Cheers

My car has been with the repairer for two months now.

Extremely ****ty with AAMI and their "choice of repairer".
