Whoever is in the lead car will be sticking strickly to the speed limit so that the group doesn't get split up. There's quite a few turn-offs on this route that need to be made so we need to make sure everyone in the group takes these and we don't end up at either end of the Hills.

I'll bring along a few maps just in case, however we'll also make sure that the first and last cars are in communication and if the group does get split for whatever reason that we get back together. If you find yourself driving down the open road with a group of cars behind you best to find a good spot for the group to pull over and let the last car let the leaders know there's been a split (particularly if we have a larger group).

Last we want this to be enjoyable for everyone that comes along and not cause any unwanted attention - particularly for those running modified cars (or ones with trade plates ).

Just got an 07 golf gti, would be cool to come along and meet some fellow car enthusiasts. How do these things go, is it a leisurely cruise, or more of a blast through the hills?

Well on a scale of 1 - 10 where 1 is taking your gran to the shops and 10 is a track day hot lap, it's probably around a 5-6. We generally choose more windy roads rather than long straights/highway/freeway as they're more interesting to drive. Suggest you tag along towards the back if you don't want to feel like you're slowing someone else down. Though we do look to stick to the limit which is mostly 80km/hr throughout the hills area (there are a few higher zoned roads). Obviously if it's wet, etc it's drive to the conditions and leave good distance to the next car - particularly when driving around blind corners as we do share the road with cyclists and other road users (buses/trucks/tractors/etc).

Hope you can make it out - if not this weekend keep an eye on the thread for upcoming future events.

To clarify, does your lead car strictly stick to the limit, or "roughly" stick to the limit? I'm not a stranger to the hills but as I'm still running on the previous owner's tyres, they're rubbish yumcha brand so if it's a high pace I may need to position myself further back.

Too many cops around and too large a group so we have to be on best behaviour. Having said that 80km/hr is still quick through some of the twisty sections so if your tyres are suspect I'd tag along.
