Where does the e-toll tag go in CC?

Hi everyone, it has been almost 2 months that I have owned my CC now, and I have not been able to figure out where to put my e-toll tag to ensure that:

    (a) It works and
    (b) It isn't interfered in any way and
    (c) It doesn't impede vision and looks ok.

It seems that there is no room above the rear mirror.

The owners manual seems to suggest that you put them where the dots are... but I am not so sure about that.

So I know this sounds like a ridiculous question, but where is everyone putting their tags? Would really be grateful for anyone with photos.

A silly question, but hopefully some useful answers by you knowledgeable lot!

haha... I struggled with this as well when I first got the car!

As you found out the e-tag works anywhere along the dash, and for a while I would just pop open the drivers side front-dash tray and sit it there... until I forgot to put it there every now and then.

So now I have it 'concealed' to one side of the rear-view mirror so that it's hidden from the drivers side view. Effectivley it's hidden behind the rear-view mirror (which is fat enough anyway) to the passengers side and that I can't see it from the drivers side...

Thanks Psyk, that was I intended to mount it too, but it will look awkward to all those impressed front passengers lol!

For the R36 (IIRC the CC is the same) I put mine in the middle console's coin drawer, the one that slides open. When I need it I just open the drawer and it seems to detect it just fine (just make sure the correct side is facing up).

This is for eTag in Melbourne where if it fails to detect, you will get a small image processing fee but no fines...

Is this the old style big eTag or the new one? Unfortunately I have the original eTag and the damn thing just won't die so I can get one of those little ones which you can hide behind the mirror! Might just have to call up Citylink and just lie that it didn't beep going under the toll... Problem is I have to physically take it out of the car because one trip I forgot to take it out of the centre console and it still beeped while I went under the gantry!!!! I've tried it a couple of times since and it doesn't consistently work so I can't just leave it there all the time...

    E Tag mounting.

In previous cars I thought the dots behind the mirror were an indication of where not to put the tag until I actually read the manual for my CC. Next problem was white/beige? tag and white double sided adhesive to glue it in. Yuk. Not a good match with Icelandic grey. Found some black double sided tape and painted my tag black. Now, mounted behind the black dots and the mirror, it is as close to invisible as its ever going to get.

Have to admit I am a bit of a pain when it comes to stickers and things on cars. Even my dealer 15000k service due sticker and my VW Assist transfer are gone as well. The MFD will tell me when the service is due and the VW Assist number is in my phone making both stickers superfluous.
You know you are getting old when you cancel your order for a 3.6 CC and buy an Icelandic Gray TDI CC instead.

Not that I drive a CC or any Passat for that manner but mine is up behind the rear vision mirror on the passenger side as well. Keeps it out of the way and works fine.

This thread actually reminded me to send the lovely people at Qld Motorways an email about them sending me a nice new and much smaller Go-Via tag instead of the large and clunky old E-Toll tags which fall off at the slightest bump or touch.

    Cheers,
    Trent
