    Upgrading A5 frt sensors

Anyone know if there’s a impossible hardware incompatibility to upgrade the current 3AA980654D sensor to 3Q0980654H which is the newer one used in the b8 passats and arteons. Will the current BCM reject the unit? What I’m aiming to achieve is better lane detection from non painted lines, from the white reflectors on our Australian roads.

Yes you can install the B8 front camera.
Will need some custom 3d printed adapters as the new camera is a different shape and has different mounts.
You also need to run the calibration routine with the new camera using the proper calibration board and ODIS.

Has anyone done this before and are there any guides available? What about the steering sensors and BCM, are they compatible? Would be great if this is possible as my car is running the gen 1 sensorsUpgrading A5 frt sensors

    Yes it's been done before.
I am going to install one in my car at some point soon (B6).
Steering angle sensor is not affected.
ABS wheel speed sensors again are not affected, but you can replace the rears with B7 version as long as you have a B7 ABS module (3AA xxx xxx part) and then change the coding to match.

Do you know if adaptive lane guidance would be available after the upgrade? Also where would I find the schematics and required connectors for the upgrade.

The plug is the same, but the camera housing itself is different.
So it won't attach to the existing mount on the windscreen.
I don't think adaptive lane guidance will work, you might just get a better performing camera in terms of traffic sign recognition and lane identification etc

Would the OEM camera housing for the B8 fit possibly instead of having to 3D print one?

No the housing is part of the windscreen.
It might be possible to remove a b8 one from the screen without destroying it but it's not a part that is available separately.

So this item from eBay, 3q0980654h VW GOLF VII 7 (bq1) facel. Front Camera Camera Fahrerassistenzsysteme | eBay
    Then a 3D printed housing.
    And some factory calibration...
Then we have a upgraded FAS unit?
Wouldn’t the housing be glued on the windshield on the CC’s as well?
Wish someone had written or recorded their progress Upgrading A5 frt sensors
