Two Fault Codes in Scanner - 08213 and 00258

    2009 Passat CC 2.0 TDI

Car seems to be running okay, but two fault codes showed up together on the Foxwell scanner today - just wondering whether they are spurious (transitory) or how I should proceed from here to investigate/rectify?

08213 Intake Manifold Runner Position Sensor / Switch Circuit Range / Performance

00258 Mass or Volume Air Flow Circ. Low Input

    Any suggestions/thoughts?

Clear them out, and see if they come back after a drive.

The intake manifold runner one probably will. There's a fix for it through DieselGeek, where you fit a stopper to the runner flap actuator.

Thanks Umai - that's a relief! Just had the oil cooler leak fixed so hoping for a trouble-free run for a little while.

I couldn't clear the first fault (08213) - won't erase for some reason; the second fault (0025 cleared fine. I have a Foxwell NT510 scanner.

As I said, was driving with no problems, so I'll go for another drive tomorrow and see if 00258 comes back again.

    Will also check out DieselGeek.

What is it basically saying anyway - this intake manifold runner?

Thanks Umai - checked out dieselgeek.com! I think I seen what you were mentioning: P2015 Manifold Fix!!!

Thanks again my friend - you are a fountain of information!

With this Intake Manifold Runner fault (8213) I'm going to buy the stopper/bracket from Dieselgeek as you suggest. Just interested in the meantime though (might be a while waiting for the bracket) - can this issue eventually/quickly lead to a bigger and more expensive issue, or is it something people often just live with/ignore?

Looks like the bracket is easy to install! Might take a while to get here though (from USA)!

Is there any significant down-side (apart from error codesappearing again) if the bracket isn't installed?

Okay, ordered bracket from dieselgeek.com - USD80.39 (includes delivery to Australia) - looks easy to install! Guess it's best to take a proactive approach when it comes to maintenance!

Delivery up to 8 weeks due to COVID-19 delays.

The bracket is a lot cheaper than a whole manifold, and will last longer.

Just waiting now for the bracket to arrive.

The fault code (08213) came back this morning on a 5km drive. Won't need to use the car that often, but I presume I can likely drive it now and again (once or twice a week - not long trips) until I receive the bracket in the mail? Obviously with COVID-10 the bracket delivery from the USA is significantly delayed.
