Ron 98 vs Ron 95 in passat cc

Looking at the specs for passat cc it shows ron 98 in the 2009 catelogue but ron 95 in the 2010 catelogue. Same engine as far as i can see & interestingly, the 2009 catelogue for the cc in the uk website also shows a ron 95 requirement only.

Any one has any answers on this? Can we run 2009 passat ccs on ron 95? Who should we ask in volkswagen? The dealer seems clueless...

    Hi, nice car...

As for the RON Rating, I beleive pre 2010 models are required to use 98RON Petrol, however post 2010 models can now use 95RON petrol. I think this has to do with the different standards addopted in Europe for emissions etc.

    Never heard of 92RON before?

    91RON ULP/E10 Ethanol
    95RON PULP
    96RON LRP (now phased out)
    98RON Hi-Octane Unleaded

So should be safe to run your vehicle on 95RON only.
However my vehicle states 98RON and 95RON only for emergancy use.

    I hope the above helps...

    I noticed that too...

I have a MY09 Passat CC and everything I saw only states 98 RON fuel. Previously owning a modified car specifically tuned on 98 RON meant that I carried some Octane booster on any long-ish trips... probably not too much of an issue...

whoops typo mistake not 92Ron but 95 Ron. If you go to the volkswagen australia website & download the brochure for 2010 you will see a decrease in requirements from 98 to 95 ron.
