A sad observation but it's something I've noticed. If you look at VWs website gallery of the CC, the fuel filler cap appears to change sides on a regular basis. Perhaps it depends on whether it's LHD or RHD, although I suspect it's just those pesky marketing people pfaffing around with Adobe Illustrator.
For the record, I'm pretty sure it's on the RHS!![]()

Search through Phaeton's photos in several threads and you will find it is on the RHS like other Passats.

Very true but there are at least 6 photos of the silver version showing the LHS without a fuel filler cap![]()
