R36 or CC

i see the sticker price of both sedans is the same at 66k and the option list is the same. Are they doing better deals on the r36 or CC?

considering the r36 has been out a little longer i would expect better deals on that?

With the R36 I got a 10% corporate discount and then a further $2000 off by negotiation. With the CC I didn't get any corporate discount and had to negotiate from a much higher price. This will probably change in time. Also it was hard to see how far they would go on the CC without actually buying it. It will be useful to see how much people actually pay for it in the near future.

The CC has metallic paint as a $1000 option whilst it is standard on the R36. The CC also has more options available such as adaptive cruise control and park assist.

Personally, I'd take the CC. I like the luxury look that it has and I reckon it would hold it's value better. I don't mind the 4 seats thing as generally it's only me who is in my car. It's true though that you'd be very lucky to get much of a discount at the moment as it's a brand new model. I'm probably not going to replace my car for another 1 1/2 years, so that should be long enough to get a relatively good discount on one.

with regards to spec, there's not a big difference between the R36 and CC. However, if you're looking at the TDI and you want one that's optioned up, the CC is the go I reckon - there's a $10k price difference but more than $10k's worth of options.

OK I drove both today back to back.
While the CC is very nice my preference was for the R36.
The dash of the CC just looked tacky but that may have been the light cream colour.
The missus drove the R36 but didn't bother with the CC.
So in summary we found the CC boring.
Strangely the R36 didn't feel that quick and the trans seemed slugish.
Driving my chipped A3 home it felt that it would whip the R36 but that's unlikely.
Liked the grip and rip turning onto another street though..no more worry about traction.
Now I need to decide on colour but couldn't see a white one in the metal.
Anyone seen the Latte colour interior and/or comment on how it looks?
Like the blue and Icelandic grey but wish a bright red was available

I had the same impression driving the R32 and the R36 back to back. The R32 felt quicker and more responsive. Many people comment that they are going faster than they realise in the R36.

I would go for the R36 if you get a wagon. If its between the sedan R36 and CC, I would lean towards the CC.

Missus thought the Wagon looked like a hearse (Just a personal oinion)
Originally we started to look at the R36 because of the wagon but are tending to gravitate to the sedan now.
Another question I have is re the central trip computer.
The R36 was a MY08 whereas the CC was MY09.
The CC would display the current speed digitally but the R36 couldn't.
Can the MY09 R36 update unit display the digital speed as well?
Was a handy feature we've grown used to in the Audi.
Liked the white layout rather than the red numbers too.

I would go for the R36 if you get a wagon. If its between the sedan R36 and CC, I would lean towards the CC.

Pretty much my thoughts. That and when I ordered the R36 the CC wasn't really known about (then again, nor was the R36 for Australia).

If I didn't want a wagon I'd have a CC in a heartbeat.

What was it that you found boring though? Was it the drive? I would be surprised if it was that, as it has the same engine/chassis setup as the R36. Maybe it just felt boring because it doesn't quite have the sporty 'feel' that the R36 has? Perhaps the CC appeals more to oldies?!

Anyway, it's good that you drove them back to back, as it helped you make up your own mind. (I'm a great believer in personal taste being the important factor and hate it when people say you're an idiot because your taste in cars differs from their own!).

Having had the CC for about 2 weeks now and driven to Coffs and back (1500kms all up), and visited my brother who just got an R36 sedan in January, the CC has a slicker interior/exterior with more comfort features (and the comfort setting on the suspension is really nice for long drives), aswell as the useful options of Park Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control - both of which I used pretty extensively. The front seats are more comfortable (according to my brother) in the CC because its all leather. Wife likes it more too. But my brother likes the harder suspension and definitely needs the 5 seats. Neither of us have really driven the cars hard during the run in period (mentioned in the manual) at 1500kms. They're the same engine so I don't expect huge differences.

However I have had a large (hopefully teething problem) in my CC - it leaks! During the heavy rain in Coffs, water pooled beneath the carpet in the drivers footwell area. Now its currently in the shop getting dried and the leak source identified. I hope this is not a bad omen - but for others buying this car, I would look out for this fault specifically as it may be an across the model problem (or not).
