    Purple Xenon Headlight

    Hi guys,

I noticed my right side headlamp is turning purple. Is this lamp replacement issue or something more serious?
    Please check the image below.

    what could be more serious?

I would guess at the bulb failing if the colour temp is changing.

I had no idea, I thought it just looks weird that it was colour temperature change, not a complete failure
I'm going to look for Philips Xtreme-Vision or Osram Night Breaker unlimited to replace them both.

Any idea what the OEM colour temperature is?

    Thanks,

You should replace both at once. And those globes you mentioned are halogens. You want Xenarc or Xenstart, those are the Philips and Osram HID globe brand names.
On the R36 you have to pull the bumper off to replace them, not sure about the CC..

Yes I actually meant this one

XENARC NIGHT BREAKER UNLIMITED | OSRAM

I hope I don't need to take the whole bumper off, will give it a try

Thanks again guys, as always, you have been very helpful.

Ah my mistake didn't realise they use the same branding on the HIDs.

I've had a look at the back of my headlights, definitely appears as if you need to remove the bumper then remove the headlight housing. The access hole to where the HID globe is tucked inside the fender. Have you googled for a walk through?

Yeah there are ETKA diagrams floating around. It's not too bad once you've figured it out but still annoying. I had trouble with some screws in the wheel arch, need a long driver.

I received my headlights today, I believe they are fake although I bought them on Ebay from a seller with 3000+ 100% feedback.
Anyway, been trying to remove the passenger's side lamp with no luck. I would like to compare the current bulb with the new ones.

It looks like I have to press on the clip and pull out, as I can see from the pic. Is that correct?
