i have one of my number plate lights blown and need to replace it.is there anything special i need to get so as not to get a code/cel?

These should do the trick:

And you'll need these adapters to handle the current drop and prevent the bulb-out code:

These are fine for the Golf and Passat 3C, but best to take a look at your CC and confirm they're the same physical size and shape. My father has a CC so I'd check for you, but he's in NSW and I won't be visiting for a while. You could also message carsystems.pl (eBay seller) to confirm fitment and compatibility.
