    Just ordered a Passat CC...

So after much anticipation, research and lurking through the forums, I placed an order on a new Passat CC V6 4-motion in reflex silver and pretty much all the options minus the Dynaudio and lane assist.

Should be able to pick it up in 2 weeks time which means it's more than likely in the country.

A couple of points for those interested in comparing:

    1) Value for money: What you get and the included options easily gets you >$100K in the other German brands. Although Lexus did have some good deals but IMHO the CC looks better and would go harder given the V6.

    2) Headroom: was a concern, but I sat in the back and I'm fine. One seat will have a baby seat, so only one free. I very rarely sit anyone in the back and if they can't fit, there's always a taxi We have another car for extended family duties... Also in the 5 years of owning my other car, I only recall a handful of times that I ever sat 3 in the back, it's only me 99% of the time in the car.

    3) Driveability: The CC wasn't going to be as fast or as quick as my modded STi, but that was never my main reason for buying the car. It was responsive, especially in sport-mode and the DSG's shifts were very smooth, it revs cleanly to redline and although you don't get the push in the back with a turbo, its deceptivley fast probably because the power delivery is so linear. I hadn't realised we hit the speed-limit entering the freeway. All-in-all it was faster than what I thought it would be and the looks we got down the freeway were interesting - it is a good looking car. We didn't go for a long drive and I hardly played with any of the options in the demo car, but the test-drive wasn't going to make or break my decision anyway. I'm the sort that tends to adapt to the cars I buy, and coming from a rough, modded STi with no options, anything semi-luxo was going to be chalk and cheese.

    4) Boot space: Compared to the STi, it was massive.

    Can't wait now...

Sounds great! How was the suspension for you? I am looking at the CC but I need it to cope with the occasional pot hole and gravel corrugations.

I'm coming from a modified STi which had lowered and stiffer STi springs plus Whiteline camber bolts and a more aggressive alignment... so my view may be a little skewed

I didn't take it up gravel roads etc. but on sport you could feel the occassional ripple on uneven roads - nothing like my STi though so I thought it was nothing really.

In comfort mode (I didn't try comfort mode) I think it would be much better again in terms of absorbing the bumps but would be very subjective - I would encourage you test drive your favourite bits of road.

Congrat Psych! Now that makes (at least) 2 of us waiting for our new CCs.

Hopefully my car will arrive by the end of the year (you pretty luck to wait only 2 week)

I seem to have had a similar experience to yours. I too considered the Lexus (IS250C) but it was too slow lol after having owned WRX myself!

BTW, couldn't help but notice the number of persons who have owned WRXs/Stis or other performance Subarus who have been considering/bought a new CC/R36.

BTW did you go for the panoramic sunroof on yours?

Interesting to read this thread........I have a CC Tdi on order for December.
And I'm coming from a much-loved Rexxy, which has to make way for this classy cruiser. Hope we all enjoy our CC's!! (note User name!)

Thanks Leagle. Congrats on your purchase as well!

I tend to not trust car-salesmans so I've read the "2 weeks" that they mentioned as the time-frame for me to follow up with them and physically ask how long.

I didn't get the panoramic sun-roof and wasn't really interested in it. Interestingly, there was another car fully optioned and fully loaded minus lane-assist which was in country but in a color that the missus didn't like at all - silver leaf LOL. So we went with reflex silver without sunroof (and no dynaudio) and a little bit cheaper as well.

If Lexus Australia bought out the IS350 that they do in the US with AWD, then I suspect that this would be a different post

Congrats Psyk. One bit of advice: When you get it, just get used to people stopping you and asking about the car. I can't believe how many people comment mine. One guy followed me home to have a chat about it. Today at the petrol station it happened again. It happens every week. It's weird but... they are a great car.
