EPark brake button fault_temp fix

I have a 2009 CC Rline 3.6 VR6. I bought it a while ago withChristmas lights all over the cluster.
One of the faults was park brake. VCDS diag pointed to the switch as beingfaulty.
Out of curiosity I pulled the switch out and tried to dissect it. I failed todismantle it from the back but by luck pulled off the actual plunging buttonwith the icon. (when all this was happening it never crossed my mind to takepics)
Under there I found a plastic white spacer which was disintegrated due toheat/oxidation and it was mounted on a LED PCB.
I soldered dry joints on 4 pins on the PCB,
removed all the debris from the shattered spacer by tapping the switch upsidedown on the kitchen counter.
I used a bit of vacuum pipe to make a spacer the pushed the cap back on.
went to the car and put the switch back in. On start up the park brake errorwas gone, and the system started working.
I have used it 4 times since last night and still no issues.

My thoughts on this is that:
1. if your vehicle is in Victoria or WA 100% your switch is going to fail, thebush/spacer cannot withstand the heat for a long time. how long it lasts I’mnot sure.

2. If your button fails, buying a second-hand one from the wreckers or eBay isa waste of time and money. just buy a new one or fiddle with your one if you can.

I think my original PB button (2009 CC) failed a year ago, so I replaced it with a new one from Topran. [Didn't think to try and take the original button apart, just presumed it was faulty!]

Anyway, a bit later on I had a fault again - this time it was the rear park brake motor (insufficient voltage). I also had a problem starting the car, and even though the battery seemed to be okay, the RACV replaced it under warranty and the car started straight away. Thing was, no issues with the park brake (6 months ago) since the replacement battery was installed. Thinking the park brake motor issue and maybe even the PB button issue were battery related?

Seen them there on aliexpress, got mine this time around (Topran) from Run Auto Parts for $32 delivered.
