Question Driver assistance package, dealer fitted?

    Hi guys,

I'm just wondering if I can buy the driver assistance package for my 2010 CC. Is it something that a dealer can install, or it comes installed in from the factory?

    Thanks.

Mine was factory Driving assistance and lighting package and there is quite a bit in it, like Xenons, cornering lights, fogs, Lane assist, lane departure warning which is connected to the steering Also has Adaptive cruise and front assist which is also a driving assistance option for a total RRP $4600 And a lot of work to retrofit I would think.

The plastic cover only for the radar for the front assist and adaptive cruise would have been $348 if I had replaced it after it got scratched 3 weeks after I bought the car Hate to think what the whole unit would be.

Yeah, mine also has the driving assist package fitted from factory.

I think it's a mission to retrofit the whole package, there is also a lane monitoring camera in the windscreen behing the rear view mirror.

Prob be cheaper to just but China brand replica head and tail lights.. as for the lane assist would cost more than it's worth to retrofit.

Yeah I thought it will be expensive, I already have the light package... I was thinking retrofitting the driver assistance package is not possible by the dealer... My wife started driving my CC and she is used to the DAS in the other car which is petrol hungry

I reckon it would be a huge task even for dealer to retrofit the whole lane departure/adaptive cruise control system.. but hey if you get it done let us know.

I shall give them a call next week and see if that's possible... I kinda regret not ordering it when I bought the car.

    I could be wrong BUT....

I think there are only a few components required for the retrofit which would cost a lot from the dealer though.

A lane monitoring camera mounted at the windshield, a new rear view mirror housing to support the camera and rain sensor, wiring harness, a CM (control module) for the camera to relay the information the the MFD and to the steering CM which will auto-correct the path of vehicle and coding for the whole system to work..

I could be missing a few things but that's just at the top of my head

I have just called the dealer, they can't retrofit DAS
My next CC will have it for sure. In November I was about to get a fully loaded CC tdi with every option available for $67K, I ended up not getting it. Maybe I will this year

I just bought a 2009 Passat CC from a VW dealer in ACT this week. It has reverse camera, auto parking, but not adaptive cruise or lane assist. I got a quote to have those fitted and after a day they came back saying "3 months to import the parts and about $5000 installed". For me its not worth that.

I've read about others getting ACC retrofitted by using radars from eBay etc, but it's a massive job, the wiring isn't there from factory, and you need to make dramatic changes to the ABS systems. Unless there's someone you know who's able to make a major upgrade including loads of VCSD changes perhaps skip it.

The smarts in the new CC are apparently already a step up from the Passat CC's, so I'm looking for forward to the new 2017 refresh which will probably start using self driving technology already coming in the USA. My next car will have a Johnny cab chauffeur on board

Yeah there is no way I'd pay $5000 for that. Honestly this doesn't look like an eBay DIY project either. I guess I will have to wait until I get a new one, the 2017 one sounds really tempting...
