That looks awesome! You simply cannot go wrong with that style on a VW. Are they 19s or 20s?

Looks great! If you just want a ride height solution prior to getting your coils, check out the 30mm lowered spring from Orange Tuning. Mine cost me $260 landed. Very please with them too.

I'd advise against this approach for any car. Lowering by 30mm makes the springs and struts unmatched, ride quality turns awful as the car will porpose on road undulations. 9/10 it'll be awful when on the highway, at around town speeds it's ok, can can crash and bottom out. My current car is the only time I've ever tried this appraoch, I've always changed to matched springs and struts, and within driving a few kilometres I regretted it, rather than doing it right the first time.

    The car looks awesome

Naturally matched shocks and springs will deliver a better result, and for a significantly higher price you would hope so. Personally, I'm happy with the spring-only route and probably won't bother going the whole hog. Just can't justify it for the price. The car rides fine (certainly would not describe it as 'awful') and is not overly harsh for my tastes. At highway speeds, I have noticed no difference to standard coils.

Given the low investment I would suggest to try the spring route first. If you don't like them, by all means go shocks and springs together for what will probably be a better overall result. How much better and whether it will justify the investment, who knows?

put it this way, the proper method i.e. coilovers cost $3,100 supplied and $500 fitted.
I'm still weighing on which method, but $250AUD vs $3100AUD is a huge difference.
