Rocket, I like boats! So I gather its ride comfort is just fine, you just prefer a taut sports suspension set-up, hence the R36.

Oh absolutely! Don't get me wrong. It's a BEAUTIFUL ride. VERY refined. VERY comfortable. You're right - I just prefer what the R36 had to offer. Like I have said before, if the suspension setup from the R36 was available on the CC as an option, I'd have the 3.6 CC right now instead of the R36.
How about an R36CC Volkswagen??? I'd buy one!!!
I have a CC and have tried all settings.
Keep in mind that I've come from a modified WRX STi the Sport setting was fine for me in terms of ride stiffness. You can certainly notice the difference as others have said.
The harshness is personal preference. Coming from a modified and lowered STI (with STi springs and modified camber settings), the CC Sports mode via the ACC was nothing compared to that Then again, the STi was like a go-kart, but I prefer the overall refinement and quality of the CC these days.
The CC in sports mode is stiffer allowing you to feel the 'ripples' and bumps on the road which also means you can feel how and where the car is sitting and especially enjoyable with spirited driving/cornerning.

Thanks Guys for your comments. Now I know I'm gonna love it.
Just phoned the dealership for a heads-up on where my CC is. It's still in friggin' Germany, but about to leave. I'll be lucky to get it before the end of the year.
Still worth it!
