It isn't just width, it is offset. Every rego time for my old Datto 1600 I would have to put on stock rims, because the old kidney style rims that were probably on since the car was only a few years old added 1" to the track (wheel centre to wheel centre) which is not legal as they claim it puts undue stress on bearings and screws steering geometry.
The silly thing is if the rims were 0.5" wider (towards the middle of the car) the track would have passed.

these were ET15, so if he goes for ET25, 7.5 and a bit of camber should be fine. They look awesome on the car, up! has sharp lines just like the wheels and i think they would be worth it

I was messing around with the headlights on our Up! last night (fitting some LED replacement DRL lamps) and accidentally shorted the terminals inside the lamp holder, and blew a fuse. The fuse box location is in an absolute bastard of a spot, and it doesn't have a fuse layout diagram to find which is the right one, so here I am at 10pm huddled up upside down in the most uncomfortable position ever, pulling out every last fuse to find which one had blown. Haha - that was not fun! But eventually got it sorted. Ended up leaving the stock bulbs in for now until I do some more tests on the LED lamp.

Ah okay let us know how you go.

    Update:

Springs going in this weekend. Ordering Borbets next week and have it booked in for a vinyl wrap on the roof, lower rear bumper next week too.

Coming along well. Had the car for a week now and its so fun to drive for a daily. Get lots of looks in it in Perth as there isn't many here yet. Love the little 3 cyl hum too.

I don't know. How is it done? How much was the roof rack? I'm looking at getting the arm rest from SEAT and some other parts. Doing rear wiper delete this weekend too.

From the UK forums, there is a VW arm rest coming...
I plan to wait, as I'd rather leather wrapped to match the comfort package.
