Can't be done with VAG-COM as far as I'm aware as you actually need to modify your Eeprom which the above can't do.
You need either the kvw100 oneshot flash tool which Fuzion sells (not sure if he still has any) or you need the VAG-TACHO software and cable.

I fettled my 2000 S3 to shut the windows the other day.

Channel 35 I think for central locking. Then coding. A window opens up and you add the number in the box, for the feature you want, to the existing code. Mine was 16200 IIRC and to close the windows on the button was +512 I think. So you put 16712 and press 'do it'.

    Job done.

If that's not it have a look at Channel 46. Central convenience

I thought the VW VAG codes were just binary 1 or 0 for each option on the interface, not a cumulative decimal number as seems to be the case on Audis.

    Uberwagen, I did mine using a kvw100.
Balkanac has done his R too, he has a V-Checker I think so he may be able to help!

Have a look here. Pretty sure Balkanac has VAG-Tacho.
It's a feature in the MkV Golf which can be enabled disabled via VAG-COM but I'm still pretty sure you can't do it on the MkIVs which is why the kvw100 was made. But hey somebody prove me wrong
    Cheers,

    fixed ya link
i'd like Distance to Empty too, as per that thread, but not unless someone has an easy option like a 1 or 0 to turn it off - wouldn't bother if it means manual programming lol. I often just flick my parkers on for the reason of getting the dash lights too otherwise it can be a bit dark to see with sunnies on. So many hidden options...
