The Aus spec motor is the 2E Euro GTI 8v motor. Making 115hp.
Meanwhile that first picture is not a 2L, the plenum is different. I presume its a 1.8L jobbie.
The U.S spec, is quite correctly, a cross flow ABA motor.

The 2E is "old" technology in my books, even though it was still used up until the MkIV Cabriolet. It uses a AFM that is restrictive, and well, sucks.

Whereas the ABA uses a MAF.

Therefore, a swap of ECU and loom is required, as well as all the other things, the list goes on...

The 2.0L can only go so far, and a 1.8T or VR6 swap is the best way. I want the 1.8T swap, more fun, and easier to get power from...
