    Good link.
I had a BCS CAI intake installed on my Mk6 GTI and the car was running very poorly after that due to wrong MAF readings. There was a lot of drone and lag just under the 2k rev mark. From the outside it sounded like it was struggling for power.
Put the stock intake back on and its now running like a dream again.

It also makes a pretty cool noise both on induction spool and blow-off/compressor flutter noise, if you're into that kind of thing.
Good to know - I'm picking my car up later today: Stage II ECU, Exhaust upgrade and Carbonio intake
I wanted the car to breath better - the top end runs out of puff (I've been short shifting and driving on torque)
2012.1 Skoda Octavia VRS DSG Wagon - Carbonio cold air intake and pipe - HPA Motorsports BBK 355mm rotors 6 pot calipers
APR Stage II ECU - APR 3" exhaust down pipe & high flow catalyst
APR/HP Roll bars - Eibach springs and Bilstien shocks

where abouts are you getting the tune/intake/exhaust done?

Will an intake that utilises stock MAF sensor location (one that only replaces the intake box) result in fuel trim issues or is that very unlikely?

Not unless air is leaking in on the engine side of the MAF. Potentially makes no difference where the MAF is, as long as all the air entering the engine has gone through it.

diameter of area where sensor is is very important also. all the trim issues with vwr and forge are because the manufacturing process didn't ensure accurate pipe internal diameter.

This is also true, I was making the assumption the diameters were the same.
