It's absolutely a major improvement for your MkI but the stock intakes in MkV and MkVI Golfs (and 9N3 Polos) is far better routed than the stock MkI's.

Instead if changing your airbox try changing your air filter to a high flow one, most likely than not you'll probably see similar gains for probably a cheaper price

O sorry about not being specific this was for the golf gti mk 6 2.0 tsi. The modshack CAI, was there any trouble installing it, it seems like it has alot of good reviews on the golfmk6.com forums and its alot cheaper as well. Does it come with the stage 2 tubing?

Agreed. Its also common for GTI owners to change the intake section to the airbox when flashing the ECU. The design for stock power and power we're trying to pull are 2 different baskets, even with the stock turbo.

I'm a fan of the modshack, but it is only a bucket, you have to fit it to the inlet. If you want a full inlet then you will have to look elsewhere. I think the ultimate setup draws air from the stock location and is fully sealed, such as the Forge, APR, VW racing etc, the modshack comes with inlet pipes you can plumb somewhere cold, but it took me a custom front to get it fully sealed like the above filters.

If you like to tinker or plan to build your own inlet plumbing then the modshack is a good option, but it really suits those that want to tinker a bit.

Thanks for your help guys, i wanted to purchase this intake but had trouble getting it shipped and also the dealers here, make it hard to purchase.

good pick, looks like nice kit with good isolation. I don't see how the Modshack one was going to pull cold air.

cheers mate, next step is getting a TBE, wanted to get just the down pipe so i can get a stage 2 tune. But may aswell go all the way. Was thinking either the eurojet TBE NEW: Eurojet 3" MK6 Exhaust Systems - VW GTI MKVI Forum / VW Golf R Forum / VW Golf MKVI Forum / VW GTI Forum - Golfmk6.com , or the ultimate racing one Ultimate-Racing :: Volkswagen :: Golf GTI (MK6 '10+) :: Exhaust :: 2010+ Golf GTI 3” Dual Exit Catback Exhaust . Again hard part is shipping =.=
