We always use a local guy who makes up his own version .Look good and sound fantastic at a fraction of the cost. But alas were not in Sydney, it may be worth a bit of searching as the VR6 sounds awsome with a note.
im looking into geting a exhaust for my VR6, i wanted to know what you guy's and girls think the best sounding one is, and where to get. I was looking at something like a Remus or Megnaflow, im located in sydney.
Cheers

Where are you in Sydney? I know a few exhaust places.
I know Brenton and I both used local guys for our VR6 exhausts. His sounds crisper though. Twin tailpipes are a must and try not to have it real noisy at 100-120kmh. Or am I just getting old?

+1 for getting old
Remus are VERY expensive. Looking towards the 3G mark. Where as a local exhaust fabricator will charge around the 1G mark.
I was looking for only a rear muffler, i found one for a good price but im not too keen on the tip look.... and he says that any other exhaust on the VR6 will be way too loud... i will get hassled by the police...Originally Posted by worm
If your just looking for a muffler, buy any muffler you want, and then ask the person fitting it to chop the tip off and weld on a new one. They can all do this, but you will end up paying more, as you will have to buy the new tip AND pay for labour to weld it on.
Just so you can compare, I had a muffler put on my old subbie, the muffler plus fitting cost aout $250. With a different tip, it would have been almost $400.
I would advise against just a muffler, its a bit of a waste IMO. You would be far better of saving up the extra money and getting a cat back exhaust. It will sound alot better and you will get some power gains, compared to none for just a muffler
The problem is, the VR's are loud buggers, and im garanteed to get defects in the area i live.. I purchased a Remus rear muffler for $450 fitted, which is awsome... i wanted a remus because its not to loud, i will get a full exhaust soon...Originally Posted by worm
hey mate, i was the one on vortex that pointed you to this site, ive got a magnaflow on the back of a 2.5" system from the cat back, the muffler cost me something like $70 on ebay for a real mangaflow. this was before the rice boys started getting into them. and i only payed something like 250 for the exhaust work which includes 3 flange sections so i can mix and match mufflers etc.
my system is not to loud , alltho loon might say it is. and surely say it was before  when i only had a res and no mufflers lol.
but if ur carefull u can get ayway with it out my way.
so i would recomend 2.5 from the cat back to a open res , then to a rear box, mangaflow sound awesome. try to get one with a flat top so it will fit properly at the rear.
if we meet up before u get yours u can have a look and hear mine
cheers brenton
remus muffler for $450 fitted - good price - but will mainly be for looks - cos you still have res it won't be tooo noisy
mine is 2.5in cat back with rear muffler - quite noisy under 2.5k revs

If your car looks stock you can get away with it. I can hear Brenton coming for about 6 minutes in the quiet of the night and its damn loud when you are in it.Originally Posted by DVR68U
But, unless you go past the cops on loud throttle they are not looking at a little golf, they think there is some ricer around the corner.
Lets all meet up and and have a muffler sound off.
My VR6 is pretty loud, but its also red with big chrome mags and dark tints, so the cops are looking for me anyway
