That will be interesting. Do you know anyone else with a MkV GTi (mapped or stock) that your friend can do a seat of the pants comparison with? (since we know that there would never be any serious performance tests performed on public roads )

Actually, a comparison with your stock R vs his GTi stock and then mapped would be quite interesting too - and then after you get the Bluefin too .

No, unfortunately I don't know anyone else with a GTI. I'll be going for a spin in his newly "remapped" car tonight so it will be interesting to see/feel the difference.

Went for a drive in the newly Viezu tuned Mk5 GTI on Friday night. It was only a very short drive as my mate had to get going. So we literally just took it around the block.

The car is running the more powerful "motorsport map". The car certainly felt faster and has more torque than previously (only mod is a APR carbonio intake). It accellerated more quickly without a doubt.

The tune seemed to be smooth - i didnt notice any hesitation or missing etc throughout the rev range. My friend is very happy with the new found power, although he menioned that fuel consumption has gone up considerably even under normal commuting.

We will get together again this week and take the car for a better / longer drive, and possibly do some accelleration comparison tests between my stock Golf R and his Viezu tuned GTI. I dare say that his GTI will be faster than my car though - especially from a rolling start (also the GTI is DSG and my Golf R is manual)

Went for another drive in the Viezu tuned Mk5 GTI on the weekend. Certainly has a noticeable increase in both power and torque and revs smoothly all the way through the rev range.

My friend isn't a forum person, so im passing on his experience incase anyone else can benefit.

Viezu offer two levels of tune in their stage 1 package - a performance tune and also a motorsport tune, each offering different levels of power upgrades. One is milder and the other is more agressive.

To top it off, Simon from Etech Remapping was helpful and went above any beyond my friends expectations from a service point of view.

Installation of the tune is done via the AlienTech controller that several tuners use and was pain free (apart from downloading the same tune twice instead of two different tunes - user error)

My mate is happy with the results.

Good to hear I haven't heard of many petrol Viezu tunes here - they all seem to be diesels in the past.
BTW Have you got your Bluefin yet?

Check with Etech Remapping - Simon seems to be working hard to build the brand so I reckon he'll be pretty helpful.

When I bought my V-Switch direct, FROM MEMORY I was informed by one of the tech staff that a single additional map (on top of the 2 maps that came with the purchase) would cost me 100 pounds and that 2 additional maps would cost 150 pounds. And I was told that these prices would be the same if I were to use the V-Switch on a new car and wanted to buy maps for it. This was back in December 2010.
