The ECU (Bosch MED17) in your car is what could possibly cause a bit of a hurdle with tuning. Some of them seem to be able to communicate to the hand held controllers (like the ones DNA, Viezu and Bluefin offer) while others do not. I know of several Skoda Octavia vRS's and Mk6 GTI's (same engine and ECU as your Jetta) have used the hand held controllers without a problem, while others have had issues. Seems like its the luck of the draw.

I used to have a Bluefin hand controller and sold it about a year ago to a guy on here with an Octavia vRS and it worked fine on his car. His car was almost brand new at that time so it would have been a similar age to your car.

bluefin came back to me today and said 'it probably wont work' with my car. they're not 100% but i'm not going to take that risk. I'm glad John from DNA is sending me the SRS controller to check my ECU before commiting to buying. He's been fantastic to deal with.

my jetta is a 2011 (MY12) model so fingers crossed all goes well!

APR have my car listed in their compatibility so it must be their software.

When you first got your car tuned, was there a big wow with the performance on your first drive?

oooh yeah, specially in the mid-range.
normal driving there is not much difference. but punch it, and u'll feel the wowness!!

we have the same engine - so quoted power figures after the apr tune jump to 188kW 402nm.
i don't what that equates too at the wheels.

Theres a fair jump in power going from stock to stage 1, expecially in torque on the 2.0TSI motor. You will definitely notice the difference.

As a rule of thumb, with a stage 1 tune you will end up with your stock flywheel power at the wheels. That might sound confusing, but i mean that your car has 145-150kw from the factory (at the flywheel), and a stage 1 tune will yield approx that same figure at the wheels. So you will end up with around 180kw or so at the engine.

All the 2.0TSI engines i have seen dyno readouts for are making about 150kw at the wheels with a stage 1 tune.

i'd be happy with that if all goes well with this tune, a down pipe would definitely be on the agenda!
