It's already tuned. K04 is not a massive difference, more lag, better top end power.

Even so, what tools do you guys use to read / write ME7
No ME7 mk4s in Australia. I am a Custom-Code agent and use what they supplied me. I reckon it's from Freiling Racing originally.

Thats very strange for the mkivs. Over here in Europe we have edc15 for majority of the tdi and me7 for most of the gti. In the US alot of the mkiv use the later edc16 which is pretty strange.

VW must have made a couple of boatloads of AGU motors they couldn't shift, then got Bosch to make them the same amount if ME3.8 ECUs to run them with, then sent the lot down here.

You could buy a new mk4 GTI with AGU in 2004 IIRC. I don't think they did any TDIs but couldn't be 100% on that..

The engine is good for 300hp and 300lbs of torque at the crank. A K04 with the right hardware will make circa 270hp at the crank, like a chipped S3.
You need to have a 3 inch MAF, S3 injector, fuel pump, a 3 inch downpipe wouldn't go amiss either. I had 165KWATW on my A3, with the same hardware and still had to finish the map.

Fuel pump isnt necessary, the internals are good for aound 400hp but you'll find the rings wear out quicker.
Did you have a front mount in your A3 Gavin?

I did have a front mount in there.

The rods are the weakest link, careful application of torque will keep it from throwing a leg out of bed!

I fitted the S3 pump as initially, I had a 4 BAR FPR and also because C-C have had plenty of dramas tuning cars with failing pumps in the past. The idea being it was cheaper than running around in circles during logging and better than running lean and doing damage.

Custom-Code is in the UK, I am the Australian agent. I live in Adelaide but travel a bit when I have to. We have off the shelf and can do custom stuff too. It isn't quite that simple in practice with the MK4, due to the limited logging you can do through the ME3.8 ECU.

I am in Sydney at the weekend, going to the Nationals on Sunday for sure.
