    Welcome to the forum.

There's no need to do the unichip or standalone, it's not the way to go. There's other options, I hesitate to say plenty. Some can flash your ECU, I am one of them, other's will want to install another chip in your ECU.

The ECU will most likely need to be removed from the car for the flash as I haven't come across a port flashable MK4 in Australia yet. I use a bench lead to flash them.

In you list of mods, you haven't mentioned a downpipe, is that still standard? That would limit you to a Phase 1 from Custom-Code. It would still produce more power than an otherwise standard car but you wouldn't be able to wring every last hp from it, without the dowpipe, which would take you into Phase 2 territory.

    Cheers

    Gavin

If you want to run a decent turbo then stand alone is your only option. What kind of turbo will you look at fitting?

im not too sure to honest it has a downpipe but not a catback i know it is strange not to do both at once but it came like that it has a few other minor mods like one of them n75 valves oh and i will be gettin the cat back aswell ... probly will be runnin a k04..wat r they like on mk4s ...

A K04 is fine on the stock ECU even a GT28 with an aftermarket controller. You will need bigger injectors and the other hardware to fit the K04 in place of the 03 and a few other things. As Gavin mentioned above the ECU has to be removed from the car and modified but the results are well worth it, we have done a few now too.

    Hi Gavin,

What flashing tool do you use for the MKIVs? I do them all via the OBD. EDC15. Do you use a CMD tool or Alientech?

??? EDC15 that's nothing like the ECU in the Mk4 GTIs here. Maybe in Ireland though

LOL I should have posted ME7. For some reason I thought the thread title said mk4 tdi rather than mk4 gti

Even so, what tools do you guys use to read / write ME7

wat power out put am i looking at with the k04 fitted, with new fuel pump injectors, front mount 2.5inch turbo back exsaust, cold air intake, plus possibly looking at doing the ignition system aswell coils etc ...wat is safe boost pressure on the stock internals on the 1.8t?? im already running 15psi. was looking at going to round 18psi..i am a complete hater of manaul boost controllers electric ones arent much better id prefer to set the boost pressure in the ecu itself is this possibly without ending up with heaps of "gain" or boost spiking ....
p.s thanx for all the help guys really appreciate all the input , u can probly tell i know nothing on euros ive only ever owned jap cars in the past thanx
