Talking Tuning for MKV R32 + Exhaust

    Hey there,

As the title states I have a MKV R32 DSG and was think of getting a tune and possibly intake/exhaust. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with tuning thier MKV R32 becuase I have read through many threads but not many speak of R32 tuning. (probably because NA tunes does offer very large gains)

If anyone can provide information on which tune (APR, Viezu, CC) they have and their thoughts this would be greatly appreciated.

Also I would like to know which exhaust provides the deepest sound without drone from the R32 I have heard the Milltek Resonated but any opinions on this would be welcomed

    Cheers

From the research I have gathered regarding tunes on the MkV R32 Ronald.

Your main things to consider is that being an NA engine, you are really going to need forced induction (be it turbo or supercharger) to make any real noticeable difference in engine performance. Given the car is euro, you can expect big dollars for this as an aftermarket thing.

There are very little gains to be had from tuning an NA engine in kw/nm, but you can benefit from a more linear throttle response above 4000rpm. Fuel consumption will be improved slightly with an ECU tune

Exhaust is such a personal thing though, so do your research on sounds/power gains, etc.
Obviously a few places to recommend that will probably be able to offer you a tune of some sort for the R32 are Volkstech, Volkspower and RTR.

REVO, APR, GIAC and UCC. Might also be worth looking into a custom tune specifically setup for your requirements. I believe you would get more joy out of a DSG tune, exhaust and wheels.

If you want a deeper tone and less rasp then get the MagnaFlow Sport cat-back exhaust system.

Have you thought about Kraftwerk? Tuning for MKV R32 + Exhaust-30uqz9j-jpg

    Hey Robbie,

    Thanks for the reply.

Just a couple of questions firstly have you had an experience with Kraftwerk? Just went on their website and seems like they do some nice work.

Also that first HMS exhaust sounds amazing haha know anywhere is Australia that stocks them :p

No, I haven't had any experience with any of Kraftwerk's products, but I have heard nothing short of good things.

Have you thought about contacting HMS direct? Shipping costs to Australia depend on your detailed address and could usually be up to 500 Euros by air cargo. http://www.hms-tuning.de/en/home/
The HMS is fitted with the optioned Electronic Valve Control, controlled by a switch for Open/Closed.

Delivery time at the moment is about 4 weeks after your order. Prepayment is mandatory.

I would rate exhaust equal to the ECU tuning in terms of improvements in power.

Doing both would be the way to go; R32 tuning cleans up the ignition timing/fuelling maps below 3500rpm for a noticeably better engine response coming out of low speed corners, and boasts almost 10% more power up top by extending the timing advance curve.

The exhaust further frees up the flow up top so the engine remains much more linear in power above 5000rpm (ie. rather than tapering/dropping off).
