    Tdi power!!!!

    Hey guys,

Just my new VW Tiguan 103tdi and was wondering if anyone could tell me of any experiences they have had with tdi chip upgrades.

I have seen a few places offer a 103 to 125 kw chip and a 125 to 149 kw chip
Are these for the same motor?
What other mods do i need to enhance the upgraded chip? ie exhaust, air filter.....etc

    Thanks Ash

I'm only aware of the Oettinger 103 -> 125 remap. Check this thread out on Tig chipping for details. It covers both TSI's and the TDI:

Oettinger is the only reliable company that do the 103 - 125 chip.

The 125 - 147 is a diesel variant available in europe only from memory and cannot work on Aus delivered tiguans.

Just tried to flash one with Superchips tonight on a 2010 model 103 Tiggy. Control units from Aug 09 depending on your luck has an anti program firewall, bit similar to the original watchdog but only different. Hate to say most Ecus are going to be heading this way which reqs more modules and hardware to do the trick, can be done though. Superchips are releasing the new hardware in the next 10 days, reqs to be flashed via the circuit board as opposed to the obd serial flash, serial will be coming in around 12mnths. So yes Tiggys with software up to Aug 09 you are good and are still flash cable, but as ive experienced tonight not the 2010 ecus, Superchips confirmed lots of ECUS are going to be the same BMW, Merc and the likes, even Hyundai now run Bosch and will be the same, so they have to a degree went backwards, not wanting us to enhance, but its software folks,, so it can be done and soon!!! Makes the chip tuning kit that much dearer
Any updates ill be sure to post

    Red face

With all these V and VI models being chipped, the question is what if any effect is there on the 3-year mfr warranty. I would have thought you choose one or the other? In which case I am gonna wait

You can't push the 103kw much past 125, as the turbo can't handle the thermal load. The 125kw engine has better heat handling, bigger turbo etc built in. You chip the ECU, you generally kiss your engine warranty goodbye, but Ottinger offer their own warranty you can purchase.

Thanks both. Useful information. I guess I am at the other end of the spectrum. I like a bit of extra poke around town, but also really like being able to drive 1,000 ks on a single tank, but with quality handling Mr Kia, and would be interested to see how far that could be pushed. The Bluemotion thing looked interesting, but we didnt get that here AFAIK.

    The turbo is different????

What else is different between the two engines?

When you say heat handling are you talking about intercoolers and oil coolers?
