    Hey guys,

Has any one seen or heard of these guys before??? looks like a dual VWR intake... but better....

Is there any reviews or info on this kit?? looks like a good buy and half the price of APR...
They also do engine covers and FMIC's....

Its a good product. Better quality, fitment and fuel trims than the VWR intake.

A lot of owners on vwgolf.net.au are running it.

    Really!?
To be honest it looks like it fits in nicer with the battery and fuse box, same styling i mean... I got put off the VWR because to be honest it looks nasty

How does it affect the fuel trims when its control by the MAF senor any ways??? or is it in the Air Filter they use?

The cross sectional area of the MAF housing is very important. If its out then this impacts fuel trims. The ECU is capable of compensating up to a certain point but beyond this you can run into trouble.

    Scotty,

Tarmac is a user on here and has been selling these for quite some time now, more commonly on vwgolf.net.au as he is a forum sponsor there. He has/is also doing a big turbo project car as well as introducing a new tuning product onto the market. Obviously you have checked out their website!

The intake itself is a Volant intake and was then further developed in conjunction with Tarmac (Ben) once he had completed airflow modelling and requested some design changes. Their claim of an 8kw gain at all 4 wheels was completed on a stock Golf R run on a dyno before and after.

They are based here in Brisbane but are starting to set up an Australia-wide network. They also are developing a range of bolt-on big turbo kits, have just started carbon bonnets and are continually looking to develop their product base for a wide range of vehicles, not just VAG.

If you just want some feedback on the intake, I suggest heading over to the other forum for reviews, etc.

    Hope that helps.

    Don.

They simply work well, perfect fuel trims which are around stock values which is unfortunately not the case with the VWR and forge wintakes even with their 'fixes'. We've put these on many cars now too

I have one of these and have been very impressed. I think you found my build thread on the other forum - comments there. Ben is great to deal with as well. Send me a PM and I'm happy for you to take a look at the car to help your choice.

If you have VWR Intakes that were purchased through the Australian APR Network that are outside of the factory trim level tolerance, please let us know - info@goapr.com.au - We have had none delivered through the network that have this issue.

Over 120 Golf R specific ones delivered through our dealer network & zero problems reported.

There were a batch (not Australian delivered) that may have had a different pipe diameter - that is a warranty issue & can be swapped out at place of purchase.

Cool I will let the owner know although he did tell me it was the revised part. Is there an easy way to tell just by a simple measurement as to which is the newer one and the earlier, or was the fix more than just the pipe internal diameter eg MAF location relative to tube wall or similar

Not sure 100% as we never had the supply issue on our batch. I assume the inside diameter of the Maf housing must be slightly different, so if you measure it I'll pull one out of stock to compare for you.
