I am happy to take a slight decrease in power and torque for the convenience of dealing directly with Superchips in the UK for my tune.
Odd that you would prefer to deal with someone on the other side of the world rather than a local agent who can do any legwork required for you.

And I don't think you can buy a Bluefin direct from the UK anymore since you would be bypassing their local dealer network (headed by Jmac).

But it certainly isn't a bad choice, especially on the value front.

I wouldnt be buying the unit from the UK - i would buy it locally from Jmac or GC Corp etc. And you deal directly with Superchips regarding the new mapping file for the car (which is fast and convenient). And then there are local dealers as well as a NZ based office (who supports the NZ and Aust dealers) so its not a bad setup.

Thanks again for the info Nat. Your friends car (with the GIAC tune and downpipe) will always make more power due to the more agressive tune and the restrictive stock downpipe replaced with a hi flowing aftermarket unit. But it looks as if you have a nice smooth power and torque curve with a reasonable increase in both power and torque (although not quite as much as some of the other tunes). Air/Fuel ratios look ok as well which is nice to know/see.

this was my dyno result, power delivery is quite linear, hence driveability is very similar to stock with more urgency when pushed

looking at the kw result alone does not seem impressive at all, my mate's GIAC with downpipe can do 170kw at the wheel. but it's ok for me for now..

power is always there when i need, looking at going up to Stage 2 soon when I get the APR downpipe installed mid May

That's basically the same process if you buy a DNA Tuning SRS-II or Viezu V-Switch ecu loading unit from one of the local dealers for these. And I'm sure that there may be others with the same arrangements

Not saying your choice is at all bad but just pointing out some of your assumptions are not totally correct (for anyone else in an area without a local tuning company).

Yes it appears to be a similar unit / process - although neither DNA or Viezu have a listing for the Golf R on their websites.

Message recieved, Superchips, well most businesses in the UK had public holiday for the royal wedding, , they dont operate at the weekend, which can be hard as i also work Saturdays, and today is May Day. Email replies from Superchips are normally very prompt, im sure ive already aknowledged your email?? Ive been checking other things on our fitters site that is only accessible for the techs and all systems are down, so i have a feeling they are taking advantage of the break and doing some server updates. as soon as everything is back to normal we will get you some answers mate.

Yes I emailed you and PM'd you late last week. In the meantime I just thought I'd try and get feedback on the product from other Golf R owners who may have the product.

    Hi Guys,

Thought I'd share some info I gained a few months ago. I had SC tune on my MKV GTI before I got my R, it was great, no problems great service and I went to stage 2.

Got my R and they'e like yes we do a tune for the Golf R-cool I thought. But then I asked about anything after stage 1 and they said they had no immediate plans to to do stage 2/3 etc unless local demand warranted it and if they had a test car. So as I had planned on going beyond stage 1 this time I very regrettably had to forego a SC tune and go with something else. This may have changed but at the time there was definitely no plans for it.

As far as their tunes go they are the least aggressive and their service from the UK was great

Thanks for the info Ando01 - im sure some R owners would be interested to know that Superchips isn't currently working on a stage 2/3 tune.....although in my instance i am only interested in a stage 1 style tune.

Edit - actually there is both a stage 2 and stage 3 tune for the Golf R. If you look under the Audi S3 on the Bluefin website you will see what i mean.
