Superchips Bluefin Stage 1 ECU upgrade for the Golf R

Excellent - i would be interested to know how it goes. Did it feel any different with Stage 1 and the addition of the TurboXS downpipe?

Yeah,it felt as though it was revving a lot more freely. It hasn't thrown any fault codes either. The sound is definitely a lot more aggressive going through the gears,but no drone at all cruising at normal speeds. Will let you know how it feels this afternoon. I won't be getting to a dyno till sometime next week though

Stage 2 bluefin loaded today. What a huge difference it made! Feels like there's heaps more top end power,loads more torque. The turboxs dump pipe has made a huge improvement!

Hi Xciteu, how did you get Stage 2 Bluefin? I've checked their website and they only offer Stage 1. What's the process of getting Stage 2 from them? Thanks!

- APR intake,
- Turbo XS dump pipe,
- Upgraded intercooler
- Upgraded cat back.

And thats all at this stage? Would be very interested to know how the car feels with this level of tune and wondering what it will show on the dyno.

Yep that's everything. Car feels awesome! Don't know if i just got used to the stage1 tune too quickly,but the stage 2 felt like a huge difference! Boost comes on sooner,through the whole rev range it feels like it pulls much harder. Very happy with the way it feels. I'll make the effort and get to the dyno late this week to make sure it's all good and safe.

I just emailed Peter from superchips in NZ and asked him about it,and the response from the UK was I should see the exact results as the stage 2 of the S3. Guess they haven't upgraded their website yet

My R is booked in next Friday for a dyno run. Only engine mods at this point in time are Stage 1 Bluefin flash and the VW Racing intake. Will post up results next week. Fingers crossed its running well and putting out the same sort of power that other Stage 1 Bluefin-ed R's are.

Just got back from John Collins Dyno Tuning. Im quite happy with the power the car made on the dyno.

The first 3 runs were the Bluefin stage 1 tune and the VW Racing intake. Peak power of 186.2kw / 249hp.

Then i plugged in the Bluefin unit and re-loaded the stock VW file. So now the only mod on the car now was the VW Racing intake. The car made 166kw / 222hp.

Below is the dyno readout, both runs have been overlayed. The Red line is the Bluefin tune. The Blue line is the stock VW tune.
