The 90TSI uses a much different engine management system that the Bluefin (and other handheld units, including DNA SRS-II, Viezu V-Switch, etc.) do not support (and unlikely to in their current versions).

We offer a 90TSI upgrade to 110kW via a plug and play loan equipment kit that we send out to customers to load on the upgrade.

I have found a local shop that has an AWD Mainline dyno so i have booked in for a power run in 3 weeks time. Only mods on my car are a Bluefin Stage 1 tune and a APR Carbonio intake (soon to be replaced with VW Racing intake).

If time and money permits i would also like to flash the car back to stock on the same day and do a power run as a stock car and then as a Bluefin stage 1 flashed car.

What kind of power figure do you think i could/should expect? Im hoping for 170kw at the wheels or thereabouts. Alot of standard Golf R's are making 155-160 at the wheels so a tune and intake should surely pull 170kw or thereabouts.

Will also be getting a downpipe (TurboXS) in a few months so ill do another power run at the same dyno once that goes on. Not sure how/if the Bluefin will manage with the downpipe without an updated file? May also upgrade the fuel pump but id prefer not to have to.

Would like to eventually have a safe/reliable 180 - 190kw at the wheels. Whether Bluefin can accomodate this or if i will have to persue another tuner im not sure just yet.

If you're wanting 190kw at the wheels, you'll probably need the fuel pump... unless you want a sucked out midrange. The way the fuel pump on the R is operated is via the cam, and effectively it runs at 1.5 times the engine speed. What happens is in the midrange of RPMs, the stock pump isn't running quick enough to supply the fuel required... athough it catches up again towards the upper RPMs - if you can get there. The solution is to increase the volume of the pump chamber and therefore increase the amount of fuel being provided at the same RPMs.

One of the people writing the tunes would be able to give you more precise info, but I'm sure that you'd be running into fueling issues before hitting 190kw if you'd like a "nice curve"

Yeah i thought as much. I'll just get a Autotech pump upgrade if that turns out to be the case.

I have virtually the same set up that you're thinking about, ie APR downpipe, APR hpfp, Carbonio and stage 3 Bluefin. If you look at the Audi S3 Bluefin stage 3 dyno chart on the Superchips website this should give you an idea of what to expect in theory. Mine runs as sweet as a nut and is very strong from about 2700rpm up, below this is better than stock but not massively different. The only drama I had was the dreaded check engine light after installing the downpipe but after a couple of tweaks to the map from Superchips problem solved.

I'll probably look at a different remap some time in the future as I suspect that a custom tune will give better results but as I already had the Bluefin it made sense to use it for now.

Stock engine 188 so if cars are getting 155 atw it's an 18% drivetrain loss.

Tuners seem to all use engine dyno numbers so get their claimed increased power number and apply 18% drivetrain loss to get an indication of what you make atw.

I think most off the shelf generic tunes claim 240kw for tune only (not sure if Bluefin does?). So with the same 18% drivetrain loss they will dyno around 198kw atw or there abouts.

I just fitted my TurboXS down pipe today and will be loading up the bluefin stage 2 tomorrow morning. Will let you know how it all goes.
Exhaust sounds a lot more aggressive now,I've also got an MTM catback and APR IC. Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly!

Excellent - i would be interested to know how it goes. Did it feel any different with Stage 1 and the addition of the TurboXS downpipe?
