No, it's DEFINITELY not normal. I would be flashing back to stock asap given the issues you're having.

The adaption process shouldn't cause misfiring. When you first start driving it just feels "like stock" and then the additional benefit of the the higher performance "opens up" over about 30 minutes. That's at least from my experience with 3 VWs with APR's flashes

Btw. I just realised that you had posted the same thing twice in two different forums. I've merged them here now and deleted the duplicate of your 1st post. Please don't post the same thing in two different locations. It just causes confusion...

Sorry mate, you do silly things when your frustrated out of your mind! wont happen again.

Ok downloaded the new map and it is better, still some small "chugs" but no where near as violent as before. It isnt as smooth as stock, but a lot better.

the main thing when it coughs or whatever it is doing, is it feels like it is being choked and held back. same story as before driving wise though.

Ok so now, what do i do? send them another email saying that it is better but still not smooth? or wait and keep driving it, to see if the ECU will learn and iron out the kinks so to speak??

Does it run ok with small throttle openings? Is it playing up under full throttle, is it any good in a high gear(manual selection) under load?

If you can give a bit of feedback, it'll be a help.

    Sorry mate.

Yeah all good on part throttle and cruising. fine at high rpms under WOT.

Seems to only play up under heavy load between 1500rpm and 4000rpm as before. although this time it is a lot gentler than before. struggles on kick down into that range, and also holding a gear through that range.

when it does play up, just feels like it is being held on a leash.

Ideas?? should i keep it Bluefinned and see how it pans out after a longer drive? the commute to and from work tomorrow should be enough and then reassess after that??

It still needs the map fixing IMO. It won't fix itself for sure. As Corey said it should be good from the start and improve a little over the first few hours.

I reckon you're safe to drive it on part throttle, don't deliberately make it play up. It'd be really good to log it and see what's happening under load.

I struggle to understand what this half hour learning process is - a computer is a computer and a remap is a remap - what is this transition about?

Anyway good luck sorting out the superchips remap, I plan to stick it on my Skoda when I find the money

ok i'll send them another email and see what they do. some feedback would be good from them though.

How do you log to see whats happening?

Think i already mentioned it should be good from the "get go" and get better over a period of around 4 driving days. If it is chugging or holding back etc it isnt right. As before mentioned , hate to repeat but its forums, they get repeated over and over. Best thing is to go to the seller mate, have it logged standard. If he is a tuner and not just a Bluefin seller he can do a Vspire read on the ECU and send it to make sure the files marry up. Best to do that than have it diagnosed on line. How can anyone know what your car is like or whats going in sitting behind a laptop all you will get is suggestions and not saying thats bad as i post suggestions myself in many thread on here but to fix anything properly needs a hands on.
If you need any help or need to prod superchips let me know
    Cheers

Yeah i know mate, i understand what you are saying and i appreciate your help greatly. i dont know what i can do with the seller though as he is in NZ. (he is who i was directed to/responded to my request for a brochure through the superchips.com.au website)

    Sorry to also repeat myself!!

i have sent another email to superchips.co.uk and asked for some sort of feedback RE: what, how and why this is happening and not just a notification that i have another remap to download.

Thanks for your offer of help and if i get no where soon, then i will take you up on that.

I will keep the updates coming.
