    Post Supercharging mkv r32?

Hey guys, i've been looking around and they have pretty good packages for bolt on sets from SLS and ABT.. now, thing is, how much will it shorten the life span of the engine/clutch?

Good question, not sure but make sure you get the ECU upgraded and the software upgrade for the DSG to get the full benefits of any forced induction system.

HPA have a good ECU and DSG software upgrade, finding someone to install it is the tricky part.

Not a supercharger, but a single turbo kit from HPA that is soon to be twin, in Sydney.
Clutch pack upgrade is discussed in there too.

    He used City Performance.

Thanks for the info guys, though i would prefer the turbos.. i've read somewhere that you would have to do a major job on the engine while on the supercharger, is just bolt-on? not too sure about it..

Unfortunately, neither is just 'bolt-on' if you're going to do them right.

There's not a lot of room under the bonnet on an R32 for a supercharger, and most of the kits I've seen (for both Mk4 and Mk5) are generally designed for LHD cars, which have some of the components under the bonnet on the other side, making the supercharger install pretty tight and generally not a bolt-on proposition.

From what I've read/heard, turbos tend to work better on the VW V6 engine, and although they probably require more fabrication (custom exhaust manifold, etc), because you're not putting extra load on any bearings/pulleys, there are less problems with them when they're properly sorted.

For either, you're absolutely going to need to change/add engine management (reflashing may be possible, or you may have to go for third party management). Depending on power levels, you may also have to go for increased fuelling (higher capacity injectors, higher pressure fuel pump, swirl pot if you're racing and don't want to lean out in corners, etc) and even strengthening of engine components such as pistons, rods, bottom end, and perhaps even valve and head work. I'd not bother with even low level forced induction without intercooling (though some may argue for low boost pressures it's not required.
    Nothing to see here...

The links I posted were from a guy in Sydney (who also has a full carbon Exige).
He should be able to answer your specific engine mod questions.

might be worthwhile doing a search though here (perhaps for the word supercharger or similar?)

I vaguely recall comments about an R32 with an after-market SC (made for the euro market) and they had nothing but problems with the oz-specced ECU
