You can't compare oil temps for the GTI and the R. They're entirely different internals (not to mention completely different engine families), and general observations show the R to always run significantly cooler.

Running stock as a rock my GTI tends to float between 95-98 degrees in ~20 degree ambient on flat roads at 60km/h. When I head for the hills and a bit of a run, revving to ~5,000rpm and loading the engine on hills, I'll easily see 110 degrees even at the same 20 degree ambient.

So yeah, don't let the oil temps bother you unless they start to get outlandishly hot. I used to stress about GTI oil temps, but not anymore. Just make sure you're using a top quality fully synthetic oil to VW's spec.

OK exhaust temps run around 500-700degC under "normal" driving. If it's pushed it will get into the 900's but quickly drops back so everything appears OK.

The material for the DP is not 304SS as many other exhausts are. I believe it is a (cheaper) polished stainless hence the reason for the colouration. Actually given that the exhaust temps are running fine I quite like it and have received a number of positive comments from various people abouth the "cool" looks.

Not sure about the longevity of this unit though as I think the wall thickness may be thinner than standard DP's (which I am guesing would also increase the colour).

Anyway I'll be taking the car into the tuner later on this week and hopefully get the tune file sorted.

    Keep you posted.

So I had a new tune file flashed in the other day and it seems to have fixed whatever problem was there.

I think this may have been incompatibility with tune file for the DP.

Anyway everything is running a whole lot smoother now.

And no real change in exhaust temps either so I think these are pretty "normal".
