Its funny how you get rid of things thinking they are obsolete and then 10 or more years later your trying to find all the stuff you threw in the bin.
I'm sure my ecu is socketed, or atleast from my copious amounts of failed research, it is. it's effectively the same ecu as a golf mk3 2.0 8v.
