After exhausting these options to gain power from my 1.6L Polo, I was shown a 'Sprint Booster' today at a mod shop that I regularly pop into. They explained that they just got the Sprint Booster into the country. They also explained how it eliminates the car's delayed response from the electronic throttle control. The good thing is I have been offered an obligation free trial next week to see whether or not it does have an effect on my Polo.
After spending time searching online and watching several You-Tube videos and home made comparison jobs, I still personally have doubts in regards to how something as simple as this could make such a dramatic difference (according to the company's claims). Ebay UK has a seller that is currently selling them at approximately $350AUSD a pop.
Has anyone out there physically tried one, seen one working in the flesh or can vouch that the Sprint Booster is a worthwhile investment?

I have one sitting here - it only works on drive by wire cars - Its basically a couple of resistors that indicate the throttle pedal position to the throttle body earlier than factory.
ie: 1/2 throttle = full throttle.
It feels quicker because in effect you are pushing the pedal down less, no more, no less.
Some mercedes owners like them as they have really long accelerator pedals with a long throw (and a "kick down" position about 3/4 of the waydown) - it makes them feel much better.
if you do a google search you will find some info on some different forums where they test it out.
hey, free trial wont cost you anything, so give it a shot & see what its like!
Totally useless.
I trialed one on my car today....it was really impressive. but for that price....
I had a quick look at the technology and it's really only the equivalent to altering the linkages on a carby to give you a faster pedal response.
The trade off will be pedal sensitivity and granularity.
From an elecronic point of view you'd build one of these units by putting a resistor accross the throttle pedal position sensor. A resistor costs about 5 cents at maximum.
But I haven't driven one nor do I have a fly by wire car so if you see value in it go ahead and make yourself happy.
This seems to be their website.http://www.sprintboostersales.com/index.htm
I suspect you could google up a heap of similar ones.
From their own website.
I reckon you'd get used to the effect pretty quick, it onlys gives an initial performance impression because you're used to how much pedal input is required for a certain amount of acceleration and given the quicker pedal you're going to be appling too much input until you get used to it.• Sprint Booster does not increase Horsepower.
• Sprint Booster does not reduce your 0-60mph times.
• Sprint Booster DOES make your car 'FEEL' faster.
• Sprint Booster is not for everyone.
Try putting your toe 1/2 way down the pedal for the same effect.

It just amplifies throttle signal by 30%.
eg 50% throttle seen normally as 20% in limp cruise throttle map becomes 20% *1.3 = 26% throttle.
70% throttle in the sport map of throttle would be seen by computer as 100% as the 30% increase would put it over the line for WOT.
It WILL increase performance slightly as your car will begin kickdown or heavy throttle mapping in the ECU slightly faster. Testing on the booster has shown about a .3 of a second difference in speed between normal kickdown engaging when you floor it and the sprint booster.
If you can imagine, it will be slightly faster if the car thinks you are at 100% throttle at 3/4 pedal travel vs having to push it all the way down.
