    Racingline OEM+ and intakes

Has anyone had OEM+ done yet? If so what do you think of it?

I'm fairly keen for the stage 1 OEM+ tune plus either the Racingline cold air intake or the Tarmac Engineering intake (for the Scirocco, not the Polo)

I'd welcome feedback on any of these intakes.

I'd really like to keep everything the same brand (Racingline, and I'm also considering Racingline springs), but the Tarmac intake looks like a good unit and it's about $400 cheaper.

    Thanks

Rygreen93 had his 118TSI done by Harding recently and although he wasn't running a Stage 1 map before that he was very pleased. I've heard good things. Guy wouldn't sell it if he didn't think it was better than the APR he sold before.

I don't have the VWR CAI so can't comment on that but if you're going to have a VWR theme it will bug you each time you open your bonnet if you don't get it. They come up for sale in the UK forums from time to time.

I've got the Racingline sport springs and I'm very happy. Comfy enough around town and a nice constant spring rate on cornering. I'd be looking at the HP sways before the VWR springs if you haven't already. Your Rocco is probably low enough already and the sway bars make much more of a performance difference IMO.

The Volant intake Tarmac sell (Tarmac dont actually make the intake - its an American brand) is designed for the Mk5 Golf, and because the Scirocco is a bit different - the fitment on the Scirocco is a bit crap. Look up some photos before you pull the trigger. Personally i wouldn't be happy with the Volant intake on a Scirocco due to the poor fitment.

Here are some nice quality photos showing how poorly the Volant fits on a Scirocco: Volant intake on a Scirocco

In saying that, im not a big fan of the VWR intakes either. The oiled filter is prone to breaking apart, and the rubber/silicone mouth piece that connects to your radiator shroud is also known to rip.

Unitronic make a really nice intake for the MK6 R and i think this would look nice on the Rocco too (same engine).

And as for Guy selling OEM+.....he will sell whatever makes him lots of money. Im sure he would much prefer to still be selling APR because of the brand reputation. OEM+ is a new brand and basically has zero reputation which is why he is offering heavy discounts for people who switch from APR over to OEM+.

I will be soon having the OEM+ DSG tune and ECU tune done on polo gti. I would think that if anything the OEM product would be as good if not better the the APR stuff. Just because the APR deal and Guy went different ways don't think that the product Guy would sell would be inferior. Lets wait and see the results and they can speak for themselves. i don't think you win motor/wheels tuner awards for using dud products.

I don't know how that all went down, but I wouldn't be surprised if APR got a sniff that Racingline were producing their own software and didn't want to share shelf space with it at HP

I guess it doesn't matter how it went down. more product equals more competitiion and better pricing for us. BTW the OEM tunes are good. I love mine so far. The DSG tune is a big difference maker.
