Never heard of them...and it seems too good to be true. Very interesting though so I might dig deeper.
Has anyone had any experience with either of these tune units. On surface seem to be similar in improved performance on Golf 169kw but racechipone is only $200 Aus vs $600Aus for the Jb 1

Their numbers seem dodgy to me. This video which is actually by Racechip shows their 'ultimate' version ($749 worth) only adds 41ps over the stock 319ps. $749 for 13%? Yet their website says 30% more?
Seems someone at Racechip needs to correct their website, this is false and misleading.

I bought one and installed it but it proved to be faulty. I'm waiting on a replacement one but am going on leave so won't be able to install it until I get back in August. Will post the results here when it's installed and (hopefully) working.

The JB1 is well proven both o'seas and here in Aust to work quite well with noticeable power gains (see the vwgolf.net.au forum as many on there are using the JB1).
A very well respected tuner from Sydney (Mark from Recode/Revlimit who has tuned some of the most heavily modified and fastest Mk6 Golf R's and S3's in Aust) has been doing extensive testing with the JB1 on his own S3 on the dyno and the results even impressed him. Its not as good as a proper tune, but for a tuning box its very good.
For that reason alone i wouldn't even bother looking at the Racechip.
For the record I have seen a 8hp dyno gain on the above mentioned fuel only One chip, right before the owner put it in the bin. As it just ramps up the rail pressure, without any extra boost, you just make the whole rev range richer. Talk about fuel use vs minimal gain.
The JB1 is multichannel, so they are chalk and cheese.
Misleading is the word, we struggle to see those sort of published gains at the wheels on a proper 3-4 channel piggyback with a custom tweaked tune.

JB1 doesn't offer a solution for the 1.4 TSi unfortunately. The RaceChip one plugs into the boost sensor and manifold pressure sensor on the TSi.
OK well in that case it would be somewhat better, but as for achieving the published gains, well Race Chip is sure "optimistic".

I'm running a JB1, along with downpipe, intercooler etc on my R. I have to say, I'm super impressed. The JB1 is about 70-90% the power gain of a tune, for substantially less cost, and keeps your warranty intact.
