Just following on from vRSy's comment regarding engine temps, I noticed a fair bit of heat wrapping on your car there Guy, has it noticably been able to keep temps in check? I too notice on mine that the oil easily gets up over the 110 degree mark on a spirited drive, how is you little monster running in regards to temps? Hence my main interest in a much bigger intercooler

Hey Guy, are you doing any R&D for cross fitting of the GTI's IC and DP etc. for the 1.2 TSI? From what I've been reading on here and other forums from around the world there seems to be a huge demand.

    Cheers!

The #2 prototype on our car runs a different configuration with more sump clearance & different heat shields, so does away with the wrapping on the first prototype - running around hard today (MFD indicated we hit 36 C today), the oil temp was less than what we saw in mid winter (just) - but yes, we have been doing a lot of work on the intercooler / intake & exhausts to minimise that temp increase - TEMP = HP - its easy to make HP by getting those temps down!

Unfortunately we haven't done anything (apart from investigate the ECU) on the 1.2 TSi as of yet. We might have to revisit it shortly. APR's new office just opened in the UK, so the demand might prompt some more development from over there!

Cant see it personally, not on an accurate dyno anyway. The UK tuning scene (and our weather is alot cooler than you guys) has stage 2 guys hitting 210-220hp on good dynos, and 230hp on generous dynos but we all suffer heat soak. With a good heat management setup im sure we could add a nice chunk of power but not an extra 40-50hp. Not reliably and consistently anyway which is what matters.

Looking at your performance times of your Polo on the FWD tuner challenge (which was awesome BTW), it is on par with what our cars in the UK have performed at the 1/4 mile and 0-60 sprint events.

The biggest unlock in HP is the intercooler & intake - massive differences.

Any idea yet on how much the intercoolers are going to set us back?

so how would a APR stage 1 Polo GTI stack up against the APR Stage 1 Golf GTI?

Given that stock, they are pretty much identical, does the extra HP and Torque of the Golf win, or the less weight of the Polo?

I am comtemplating getting a red Polo GTI 3DR as a second car.

I dont think there would be much in it - The Polo is so swift through the gears its awesome & the weight factor! - that 7 speed DSG has the ability to keep the little 1.4 in the powerband really well.

What's the powerdown like in the POG with Stage 1? Is there enough weight over the front wheels to provide sufficient traction?
