Thread: Polo GTI APR ECU Upgrade

  1. #271

If yours is a 03/2011 build, yours is the later fuel system, so you are fine!

If you understand about how a plate diff works compared to a Torque biasing diff (and you ever go to a race circuit), then the only thing that would stop you using a plate diff is the price.

TBD have their place, but on the race circuit they fall very short in being able to put the power down - and the release the diff has in mid corner / exit is about a 1/2 - to a second a lap in our experience. TBD is a good priced alternative for the street mind you .

Don't have any HP numbers in mind yet, its all experimental at this stage. Once we get the compressor maps of the new hybrid, we should have some expectations, but the dyno & calibration will see if there are any other components that need upgrading!

We are already over 200whp now on 98 ron with the "stage 2" setup.

Is that your car in the UK VW Driver magazine? Just saw the front cover which said 270Hp big turbo? Going to pick it up in a bit

Is there a build thread about at all?

No, but I'm working on collating some stuff!

There are some pics of the latest revision of the Polo intercooler on our facebook page. We have come up with a new revision that is a direct bolt in, no cut option now with a stepped core final flow & pressure drop testing over the next two weeks & if all OK, December release.

When are you looking to release the Hybrid option and software?

Im liking the APR cooler, judging by ETKA, the Polo and Fabia share the same std intercooler, so it should be a direct fit. (The Ibiza cupra has a different cooler). What differences have you seen in the IAT on WOT etc. and how is it coping with the raised output of the Hybrid.

One thing ive noticed with the 1.4TSI is the engine bay gets unbelievably hot compared to any other performance car ive owned. Also the oil temperatures easily get into the high 120 degree region when on track. What heat management options are you looking at?

Hows the hybrid coming along then? Any sneaky peaks at outputs, or power/torque gains though the rpm band, or timed performance differences over when the car was just stage 2?

Hybrid is still not on yet, we have made some changes to the machining to make it a better fit on the cold side.

The intercooler - on consecutive dyno runs we see 30 degrees C better temps, so over 12wkw.

The "near to signed off" production intercooler is being flow tested & then we should have it ready.

We have been working hard on comparing our 2.5" & 2.75" exhausts & downpipes at the moment.

I thought you had already fitted it. That VW driver article stated 270hp big turbo 1.4TSi and mentioned the initial tests showed it was good for 270hp so I presumed you had started the R&D for the mapping. Gutted now lol,

How did you come to the 270hp, was that through flow testing of the turbo?

270hp is achievable with a stock turbo
